Choosing the profession is a challenge for all high school students, as they face a choice they believe will determine their lives. It is precisely this agony that our school listened to and that is why on Friday, February 24th, a Vocational Guidance briefing was held with Mrs. Karaisarli Maria, Vocational Guidance Counsellor for Secondary Education of KEDASY.
The event coordinated by teachers K. Thomoglou and P. Tatsis, attended all the students of the first grade of our school as well as some students of the third grade. Mrs. Karaisarli presented the children with a number of professional options and then discussed with them in detail the professions of their preference, attempting with willingness to answer their questions.

Summary

Teacher burnout is a serious issue that can have negative effects on both the teachers and their students. Project activities such as Erasmus+ can be a great way to prevent burnout among teachers, as they can provide a creative outlet, promote collaboration and engagement, and help teachers feel more connected to their students. Here are some ways to prevent teacher burnout through project activities:

  1. Allow for autonomy: When teachers are given autonomy in their work, they are more likely to feel invested and engaged in their projects. Providing teachers with opportunities to choose their own projects or design their own curriculums can help prevent burnout and promote creativity.
  2. Encourage collaboration: Collaborative projects can help teachers feel less isolated and more connected to their colleagues. Encourage teachers to work together on projects, whether it’s collaborating with other teachers within the same subject area or working across disciplines.
  3. Focus on student-centered projects: When teachers design projects that are centered on the needs and interests of their students, they are more likely to feel engaged and invested in the work. Encourage teachers to involve their students in the project design process and to incorporate student feedback throughout the project.
  4. Promote reflection: Reflection is an important part of the project process, as it allows teachers to assess their progress, identify areas for improvement, and celebrate their successes. Encourage teachers to reflect on their projects throughout the process and to share their reflections with their colleagues.
  5. Provide support: Projects can be challenging, and teachers may need support to help them stay motivated and engaged. Consider providing resources, such as professional development opportunities or mentorship programs, to help teachers develop new skills and stay engaged in their work.

By incorporating these strategies into project activities, schools can help prevent teacher burnout and promote engagement and collaboration among their teaching staff.

Sustainability Conference 2023

Οn Friday 17th Feb 2023, Year 1 students welcomed the public to the Sustainability Conference 2023.
Students presented their own solutions for a more sustainable life and society.

The conference concluded the school’s Sustainability Week. The sustainability conference took place at Fyllingsdalen High School on Friday 17/2 at 12:00.

It was based on the UN’s sustainability goals and Year 1 students have tried to find out for themselves how we can achieve the goals.

They worked on the goals for a week and looked critically at the current practice and described the future as they want it to be.

The school also had guests who inspired the students and we heard exciting and educational lectures from Nature and Youth, the Food Center and activist Martin Skadal.

It’s the third year we’ve had Sustainability Week at school and we think it’s a good way to learn about the curriculum goal Sustainable Development.

Enrich our school days with YOGA activities.

In 4th GEL Rodou, we tried to enrich our school days with activities that relax students and teachers and help us manage anxiety and teacher burnout. The most successful activity was yoga practice under the instructions of Mrs Kouniazidou and the organization of Mrs. Semertzidou.
All students and teachers agreed that we should include yoga in our school program! Why not?
