4th GEL Rodou is a public secondary school in Rhodes city, Greece. It has more than 450 students and 50 teachers. Offers general education of all subjects, such as languages, sciences, health sciences and economics. Most of the students are preparing for the national exams and continue their studies in greek and other European universities after graduating.
The school is active in Erasmus projects and both teachers and students have embraced with enthusiasm and hard work this opportunity to meet people and learn more. Furthermore, every school year many extracurricular projects take place at 4th High School aiming to enlarge students’ love for sciences and connect all sciences with society and culture. The ultimate goal is to promote sciences as vibrant, functional, creative and interactive parts of every society, rather than learning textbooks by heart.
In this context, over the last five years the school participates in the interactive exhibition of the Athens Science Festival presenting students’ project work in many fields such as marine biology, ecology, archeometry, youth entrepreneurship and economics, geology. Student groups have twice participated in the National School Rhetoric Competition “SchoolLab Live” winning the 1st National Prize in 2018. Also, during the school year 2017-18 students organized an innovative “Science Escape Room” that was presented at the 9th Pan-Hellenic Conference for ICT in Education.
