I suggest that a Sound Jockey is a person who selects and plays with sounds for an audience. That’s also the project that I develop these days! A Sound Jockey (SJ) could play on the Radio, in a bar or club, also at live performances. The hearable result comes out from speakers as it happens with all kind of Jockeying activities (Disk Jockeying, Video Jockeying, Media Jockeying e.t.c).

About Sound Jockey on Metasound Project
A Sound Jockey creates music and sound by expressing his musicality. A Sound Jockey could be an instrument player that practices on homemade instrument playing, maybe a percussionist, or any person that practices on musical expression via to objects and instruments. Sound Jockeying arises from a continuous exploration on sounds and techniques. Related terms could be the Soundscape, sounds from the environment, extended performance techniques on instruments, or any organized sound making.

Sound Jockey on stage
A Sound Jockey has to expand his material on stage. Sound objects and Instruments must be set on stage ergonomically. Microphones for sound capturing have to be set properly. A Sound Jockey prepares his stuff according to a practical “stage plan”. Technical equipment and sound sources have to be set in a harmony in stage’s space. It looks very similar to a band’s stage plan but it’s all about one person, the Sound Jockey. It’s not exactly an One-Man-Band, but it’s something very close to that. It’s also an One-Man-Show.

Sound Jockeying and Genres
As every kind of Jockey, Sound Jockey can play any kind of music. Even if this arrangement looks progressive, alternative or experimental, the result could be pop, rock, jazz, classical, electro, modern, other, any kind of music. There are no limits on this sounding action.

SJ Activities
There ware two presentations of Sound Jockeying by SJ Dimitris Sarris, during August ’09 in the region of Aitoloacarnania (Amfilochia and Thermo).
