5KATThe most original, imaginative and creative robots were built by my young students

in the 8th Primary School of Pyrgos on Wednesday, May 11 as part of the innovative project that we are doing this school year, entitled “Recycling with robots in the place that gave birth to Olympic Values”. This educational activity is implemented under the program “Learning Together ” funded by the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation.

With the valuable help of the Art Teacher in the 2nd High School in  Amaliada, a painter and an illustrator, Katerina Andreou, students had the opportunity to explore the world of art with their creative imagination and create their own original artifacts, with reference to technology, science and inventions.

4KATThe pupils used simple everyday materials such as large packaging cartons, milk cartons and lids, and a lot of excitement, enthusiasm and cooperation!

The young artists of our school felt great satisfaction with the robots that they will use as  paper recycling bins in their classes and even gave them names, Ana-Kyklo-Si and Ana-Kyklo-Soulis!

Karagiozis Radio Play

καραγκιοζηςAs March 25 the Independence Day for us and a National Day in Greece was approaching we decided with my 4th graders in the 8th Primary School of Pyrgos to take part in an amazing project , a radio play in the Theatre of Shadows on the European School Radio.

EUROPEAN SCHOOL RADIO

As usual we were part of a group, a collaborative initiative!“1821: RADIOkaragkiozis in 5 acts!” is the name of our play. We cooperated with the
2nd High School of  Zakynthos, the Music School of Veria, the Experimental High School of the University of Crete and the Primary School of Nea Skioni.

Land of Ambrosia

The 1st graders of the 6th Primary School of Pyrgos where I teach two days a week are participating in an eTwinning project called Land of Ambrosia.

land of ambrosiaThis project is intended as a trip to meet European pupils, learn about them and their country, using the food topic as central theme.

28 teachers from Greece and other European countries and many pupils of primary school will be working for this eTwinning project

We intend to work in several areas of our school curricula as the Arts education, Social, Environmental and Scientific Education (such as History, Geography and Science), Language (oral and/or written native and/or foreign), Social, Personal and Health Education using the food thread to guide us through different activities.
We’d like our pupils to expand their horizons opening themselves to new cultures, accept difference, improve their communications skills, learn to work as teams, interest themselves in what their peers do, and learn new facts. And of course, be familiar with ICT tools.

Art in Us

The 3rd  and 4th graders of the 8th Primary School of Pyrgos  this year are taking part in the project«Art in Us» .

They will be cooperating with the school Agrupamento de Escolas de Montemor-o-Novo in Portugal Osnovna škola Bukovac, in Zagreb in Croatia, with the school Scoala Nr.17 in  Botosani in Romania and with the school  Şcoala Gimnaziala ,, Elena Doamna “, in Tecuci in Romania.A school from Georgia will probably join us later in the year!

The European Schools Newspaper, 2nd year!

Europe through the project: My First Postcards

The E class will be working on a collaborative prject which will combine an eTwinning partnership and Teachers4Europe educational program.

The name of the project is «My First Postcards» and  the 5th graders will be working in cooperation with the school ZŠ Hrochův Týnec, Hrochův Týnec in Czech and school Szkoła Podstawowa nr 28 im. gen. Leopolda Okulickiego in Wrocław, Poland .

Planet Diversity with the 6th graders

Youth4Greece

Helping my students for this innovative project  has been an amazing experience for me, an experience of how creativity can help learners open up!

I discussed with the 6th grades what places of Lampeti they would like to show to other people  and take part in the  action Safe Network Day 2016 “Youth4Greece” .

So after a long discussion we decided what places we would chose for the  presentation they would have to create for   Lampeti:  the Folklore Museum, the Olive Oil Press and the Square. The presentation  is  on youtube at:

The  activity” Youth4Greece ” was created in order to promote Greece through the eyes of children and adolescents. The goal of these videos is that students make their hometowns attractive to other peers in their own way.

 This action is not part of a  competition and it aims to promote creativity, originality,  the concept of intellectual property, and the action for good content on the Internet as part of this year’s observance of Safer Internet day: “Take action for a safer Internet.”

 “Students of the 4th, 5th and 6th grade, with assistants students from the 3rd grade, undertake  the  creative role of directing and choosing shots to guide us to their place in the way they know.

Disseminating our projects

The work I did last year with my pupils was wonderful because cooperation and collaboration with the other participants of the project were both ideal and inspiring.

With the colleagues we worked on the project against bullying we decided to disseminate it by presenting it at a conference that took place in Thessaloniki, the ” 4o Πανελλήνιο Συνέδριο «Ένταξη και Χρήση των ΤΠΕ στην Εκπαιδευτική Διαδικασία»., Α.Π.Θ., ΠΑΜΑΚ και ΕΤΠΕ.”   http://etpe2015.web.auth.gr/etpe2015/el/node/1  It was an amazing conference with a lot of interesting presentations. The feedback we got for our presentation was very positive, which of course made us more than happy!

With the colleagues we did the project in the European School Radio we made a presentation at the 2nd National  eTwinning Professional Development Conference which took place in Patras, http://www.etwinning.gr/conf2015/. It was so nice to be among friends and colleagues, and talk about happy moments of cooperation and creativity in eTwinning and European School Radio!
