Many famous people have died in an early age. Some of them died because of drug use while others were murdered or committed suicide. When four famous musicians died in the age of 27 in just three years, they caused the start of a well-known club, the 27 Club. Until today, the curse of 27 is still alive.

Most of the members of the club were rock ‘n’ roll artists. The first member was Brian Jones, “The Rolling Stones”founder and guitarist. He was found dead in his swimming pool on July 3rd 1969. His official cause of death was drowning. He frequently used lysergic acid diethylamide (also known as LSD), cannabis and he also drank heavily.
A year later, one of the best guitarists ever in this world, Jimi Hendrix was found dead. He drowned in his own vomit after combining sleeping pills with wine. His official cause of death was asphyxiation. He died on September 18th in 1970. After less than a month, in October 4th, Janis Joplin one of the most famous rock female artists died by heroin overdose.
It had been exactly two years after Brian Jones’ death when the lead vocalist and songwriter of “The Doors”, Jim Morrison, died in Paris. His wife claimed he died by heroin overdose. However his official cause of death was heart  failure with no autopsy performed. In his biography it is stated that he used many kinds of drug.
There were no new entries in 27 Club for 23 years, when in 1994, 5th of April Kurt Cobain, singer and songwriter of “Nirvana” died. He committed suicide with his death being disputed. He struggled for many years with his depression and heroin addiction. As a kid Cobain wanted to join the 27 Club as it was claimed by his sister.
The latest member of the club was Amy Winehouse who died on July 23rd 2011. Winehouse was the first British female artist to win five Grammy Awards in a single ceremony. Her cause of death was alcohol poisoning. She was a heroin and cocaine addict, and an alcoholic. Her family claimed that her ex-husband Blake Fielder introduced her to this lifestyle.
Many other artists who have died in the age of 27, less famous than the above, were added in the club but not all of them had problems with drugs.
Janis Joplin’s death was the only one not to be doubted. According to conspiracy theories some of them were murdered. Although the causes of their deaths are different with each other, they all have something in common. Drugs. Some of them were using due to their rock ‘n’ roll and “live young, die fast” lifestyle, others because they couldn’t handle fame and others were just introduced to drug by people they loved. Whatever the reason was, drug abuse and addiction made those extremely talented people candidates for an early self-destruction. The point is they all got into drugs and once you get into drugs you cannot get out of them!!!
