Our project with the ambiguous name “What’s g(r)o(w)ing on?” has been collaboratively and collectively planned. This has been achieved through input from all participating partners before and during the preparatory visit, and is ongoing. Our project will encompass the theme of plants and trees in our local environments.
We propose to address, study and evaluate this project by: – sharing information about plants and trees, – raising awareness of positive attitudes and sensitivity towards plants and trees,- looking at plants as having various functions and how those functions vary across the participating environments, – looking at climate, geographical and cultural differences and similarities, – introducing students to the fundamentals of gardening and practicing it, – increasing the students’ awareness and enjoyment for local natural places and green spaces in the sense of sustainable development.
Our project will be cross-curricular and interdisciplinary with hands-on activities leading to research based work, using head, heart and hands; fundamentally all our senses.
Information will be shared, combined and evaluated through several means.
Our project will have this structure: – We will have three common subjects per year and two subjects ongoing throughout the project. – We will give or send the results (examples of practice / texts / art or crafts / photos /videos ….) to all the partner schools. – Schools will have a two years lasting expanding exhibition with these results. – We will have meetings to exchange material, evaluate results and to join the local project work. – Everything will be published on a website.
– We will encourage the contribution of local experts: specialists like farmers, scientists, artists and with relevant organisations.
