Our Schools, Our World

The eTwinning project “Our Schools, Our World” was a meaningful collaboration between students and teachers from Latvia, Greece, Spain, Italy and Turkey, focusing on communication, cultural exchange, and creative learning.

September – October: Starting the Collaboration

The project began with the registration of students and teachers on the platform, followed by the first online teachers’ meeting. At this early stage, we also carried out a pre-survey to explore students’ interests, experiences, and expectations regarding the project. This helped us better shape the upcoming activities according to their needs and profiles.

Teachers had their first online meeting.

To help students get to know each other, we started with simple introductory tasks such as creating digital avatars in the activity “Let’s Get To Know Each Other!” Students also introduced themselves, while teachers prepared a collaborative Project Netiquette video presentation.

For the European Day of Languages, students worked together on a poster and a short song featuring greetings in different languages, supporting early collaboration and language awareness.

We also placed strong emphasis on online safety and responsible participation. Parents provided consent for student participation and use of materials, the eTwinning Code of Conduct was shared on TwinSpace, and students were introduced to safe internet practices through a presentation and a Kahoot activity.

November – December: Sharing School Life

During this period, students presented their schools, daily routines, and favorite subjects through digital projects. This allowed them to compare school life across countries and recognize both similarities and differences. You can see our school’s presentation here

They shared their favourite school subjects and why they liked them on this shared padlet

The first online student meeting gave them the opportunity to communicate directly.  The school presentations each school created were presented and students managed to interact and exchange greetings in a supportive and encouraging atmosphere.

It was during the festive Christmas season, students exchanged handmade cards, wishes, and sang to each other traditional Christmas carols, adding a more personal and cultural dimension to the collaboration.Screenshot 2026 06 04 233937

January – February: Communication and Creativity

Students participated in a logo design competition and the winning logo design was created by our school, the 10th Primary School of Kalamaria, Greece!PROJECT LOGO 3

The students were asked to imagine and create their “dream school designs“. They worked in groups and used the materials of their choice. They used lego bricks, plasticine, drawing by hand, cardboard recycled materials etc.

A poll was implemented to find out which one was considered the best. The winning design belonged to Latvia Class C.Screenshot 2026 06 06 134709

The students contributed to collaborative writing activities, including letters for the “Buddy Box” and articles for a shared digital newspaper  “OUR SCHOOLS, OUR WORLD NEWS” focusing on life skills learnt at school.

These tasks supported written communication skills and encouraged cooperation among partner schools.

March – April: Reflection and Joint Creation

Students completed a self-assessment checklist to reflect on the skills they had developed throughout the project.

In “Our Dream School” designs activity, the students designed their ideal school environment and discussed and voted on different ideas. This allowed creativity and collaboration to come together in a meaningful way.

They also worked collectively to create a shared story titled The Secret Door at School, developing storytelling and teamwork skills.

May – June: Final Online Meetings, Evaluation and Dissemination

The project concluded with a second round of online meetings for both teachers and students. The studentsenjoyed the meeting immensely  as they played  a kahoot game  with  excerpts  and  images  of the collaborative eBook they created together and had to find the correct story title.  They then sang traditional songs about summer  and said their goodbyes!  Untitled design 1

Final evaluations were completed, and the project outcomes were shared within the school and eTwinning communities.

“Our Schools, Our World” provided students with opportunities to communicate and collaborate beyond their own classroom environment. Through structured but creative activities, they developed skills in communication, teamwork, and digital collaboration while engaging with peers from other countries.

Data protection, e-Safety and copywright

Data protection, e-Safety and copywright issues are very important and students should always be informed and reminded of these rules and every eTwinning project is an opportunity for these rules to be presented and discussed. The following link is a presentation of the basic e-Safety, copywright and data protection rules. It is designed for students aged between 10 and 14.  It was shared in the TwinSpace for the partner countries to read and participate in the activity.

e Safety Rules

The students read the rules carefully, then, played the kahoot game at the end of the presentation to see how well they learnt the rules to protect themselves online.

The students of Greece and of France played the kahoot game after watching the e-Safety presentation, and these are the winners:

“The Study of Muggle Life” (Greece/France/Spain)

Young “wizards” must study and learn the cultural characteristics of “Muggle” life to be able to blend in successfully when they are visiting that country. In this book they will study the strange superstitions, national celebrations and festivals, the Dos and Don’ts (etiquette) and traditional “muggle” food of Greece, France and Spain. The e-book is collaboratively written by international groups of students who are members of the eTwinning project “The Wizard’s Tournament 2020 – 2023”.

The purpose of the e-book is to develop intercultural awareness among students of different countries in order to promote acceptance and understanding of our cultural diversity and value our similarities and differences. This combats prejudice and conflicts and leads to more cultural connections and successful future interactions.

Uniform Day

The students were asked to dress up in their special Wizard’s uniform according to their “House” colours and come to school. They had a lot of fun and these are their uniforms:

2.3 Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day was an amazing experience for the students! They worked in the computer lab. They chatted online with students of similar age from Italy and introduced themselves and chatted about their likes and dislikes. They participated in a Wordart mentimeter activity (Write a word or adjective you associate with the internet) and together they created this wordcloud:

After the 20 minute communication session, the students were shown a presentation on e-Safety Rules and after that, they played a kahoot game  to check their knowledge about these e-Safety Rules. They competed for a position on the leader board and had a lot of fun!

2.4 Valentine’s Day: We created a recipe for  “Friendship Soup”

                     St Valentine’s Day8czngk76i

On the 14th of February, we celebrate love. Love is expressed in many ways. Friendship is one of them. There are some very important “ingredients” in friendships. Let’s make a “Friendship Soup Recipe”!

Why soup you might ask? Well… soup is like friendship in many ways; it’s good for us, it warms us up on the inside, it’s soothing when we don’t feel well,  it’s full of nutrients which are good and healthy for us just like friendship is good for us! And everyone can make it, it’s easy!

This is our  “Friendship Soup Recipe” We created it together in class. It was uploaded in the TwinSpace of our project.

The students were also given a photocopy of a similar worksheet to create their personal recipe for friendship at home.
