Karius and Bactus

Once upon a time, in a town with beautiful parks and squares, there lived Aris, a nice but strange boy. Aris loved eating sweets but he didn’t take care of his teeth. He liked trying everything. He ate whatever was in front of him without wondering what it was…

This was a habit that Karius and Bactus loved. They were two tiny trolls that lived inside Aris’ mouth. These trolls were friendly and curious. Bactus was tall and thin whereas Karius was short and fat. They always wore long brown trousers and torn shirts.

These little monsters had wonderful days and even better nights, since Aris never brushed his teeth. Even if he sometimes was about to brush his teeth, after arguing with his mum, the two trolls would climb up his ear and whisper “don’t do it, don’t brush your teeth!”

The two trolls had found plenty of food in the boy’s mouth. They used to eat, and eat and never stopped. Imagine that they ate starters, main course and dessert five times a day! They particularly liked sorbet and the strange tasteful mixtures that Aris created.

They had fun playing lots of games! They played hide and seek and the hidden treasure in the teeth’s cavities, they swayed in Aris’ larynx and played food war with the remains of food stuck in Aris’ teeth .At cold nights they would hide and cover themselves under his tongue.

Since they were so pleased with Aris, they decided to give him a present. You see, they thought that they were great artists, sculptures in particular. So they started creating ornate statues using the boy’s teeth. They were so devoted to their art that they didn’t miss a single tooth. The more statues they built, the more in pain Aris was.

One day, as the two artists continued to create masterpieces, suddenly an unknown visitor entered Aris’ mouth. It was a metal tool with a strange voice that shrilled and scared the trolls to death. Then Bactus said with trembling voice:

“- Aaaah what is this thing? I’m so scared! Help! It ruins our sculptures…I don’t believe it! It is moving towards me!”

“-How can I help you my friend? Karius said bravely.”

“-I have no idea! Look! They destroyed everything Karius!”

“-Humans are so ungrateful beings! They don’t appreciate our artistic work, our talent!”

The two trolls hugged one another and burst into tears. Another tool entered Aris’ mouth and spread white mud making the boy’s teeth healthy again. Karius and Bactus were thrilled-they thought that people finally recognized their artistry and gave them new material! They hugged each other again and cried out of joy this time. It was then that a torrent of blue water filled Aris’ mouth and swept Karius away. Bactus rushed to help his friend.

Unfortunately, the two friends drowned in the rushing water.

After that Aris didn’t have toothache and he decided to listen to him mum and take care of his teeth.

And he lived happily ever after…

Karius and Bactus

Once upon a time there was captain Yiannis who loved two things: the sea and loneliness. He could never believe that he was actually never alone. He was never on his own when he was in the bathroom, he was never alone when he was walking on the beach, he was never alone when he was aboard the ship reading his book. He was never alone in his sleep either, for inside his mouth there lived two cute trolls called Bactus and Karius.

These little things were having a great time. They were very athletic types so they exercised all day long. They used to climb up and down the captain’s throat, they swang in his pharynx and they went bungee jumping at his belly.

They stored food in the teeth for the winter. They even used some of the food as a ball to play with. The two friends were having wonderful days and nights.

In their tooth-house they had a tooth-table and two tooth-beds.

But one day captain Yiannis was in great pain. Bactus and Karius were moving the furniture around in their tooth-house so the captain had a terrible toothache!

He went to the dentist who replaced the tooth with a golden one. When Bactus saw the golden tooth, he was very happy! He thought that they were rich so he ran to tell the news to Karius who was shopping at the tooth-bazaar.

As soon as Captain Yiannis arrived home, he brushed his teeth. Bactus and Karius thought that this was their end but luckily the toothbrush stopped moving. Then the water came! At first they whirled and afterwards they found themselves in the washbasin. Next thing they were going down the pipe but something was blocking their way and they couldn’t move. It was then that Bactus decided to give his life and removed the thing. Karius was free to go but Bactus died. He was always remembered from that day on as a hero!

Karius and Baktus

Once upon a time there lived two trolls, Karius and Baktus, in a man’s mouth. They worked there. Their job was to keep the man’s teeth clean.

One horrible night, the man went to sleep without first brushing his teeth. As a result, Decay, the main enemy of Karius and Baktus appeared.

The trolls fought bravely till the next morning but they got defeated by Decay. Then Decay told them: if you do not want me to damage this man’s teeth, then one of you must give his life.

In the end both trolls sacrificed themselves in order to protect the man’s mouth. Decay disappeared as she had promised to do. And since both trolls sacrificed themselves she never came back.

From then on the man’s teeth were healthy and safe and he never had to go to the dentist again.
