FROM THE PRINCIPAL
International Visitors
The inaugural reciprocal visit of our sister school in Athens, “The First High School of Voula” concluded this week amongst sad farewells but not before the 22 students, staff and Principal Dr Maria Kaskantami had experienced some real Australian hospitality and wonderful times here in classes with our students, visiting Melbourne attractions and being hosted by a number of community groups. It’s been a full 10 day exchange and our guests were left with a positive lasting impression of our school and of Melbourne.
I thank Mrs Toula Terezakis, Head of Aristotle House for being the anchor of the program over the last 4 years. She and the staff in Voula have collaborated extensively over the years to give both our students the opportunity to expand their language skills and deepen their understanding of each others cultures and way of life.
Thank you also to Ms Denise Diakodimitriou, Mr Blair Runnalls, Ms Ashley Jiang, Mrs Jing Wang, Mr Louis Diamandikos, Ms Samantha Evangelista, Mr Syd Leamon, Mr Con Papoulis, Mrs Helen Mallis and Mrs Pauline Sistanis for their support in organising activities for all to participate in.
Our Year 9 and 10 Gateways trip this year will see 80 students visit China, Cyprus and Greece for 5 weeks in September. We look forward to continuing our sister school relationship.
