Once upon a silly time, Binky the monkey found a dusty, old carpet in the jungle. He hopped on, just for fun—and WHOOSH! Up, up they flew, higher than the tallest trees!
First, Binky shouted, “To the banana trees!” The carpet took him zooming to the tastiest bananas, which he gobbled up as they flew. Next, he spotted a market full of shiny fruit and swooped down, grabbing the juiciest mango. “Hey! A flying monkey thief!” yelled the fruit seller, waving a broom.
Laughing, Binky told the carpet to go faster. But suddenly, he saw they were heading right for a big, fluffy cloud! SPLAT! Binky popped out the other side, all covered in soft fluff. He laughed and decided maybe it was time to give the magic carpet a break—until his next snack adventure, of course!
The difference between travelling and traveling lies in British and American English spelling conventions.
• Travelling is the preferred spelling in British English, used in the UK and most Commonwealth countries.
• Traveling is the preferred spelling in American English.
This difference also applies to other words with a similar ending, like cancelling vs canceling, and modelling vs modeling.
