The Erasmus KA3+ Project Teachers4Europe: Setting an Agora for Democratic Culture 2022

The Erasmus KA3+ Project Teachers4Europe: setting an Agora for Democratic Culture, 2018- 21 perceives education as an important element for the promotion of principles and values comprising the EU democratic culture. The Teachers4Europe network comprised of 1,200 teachers from European countries and beyond is committed to spread the European values to colleagues, students and the society.

Our school has been part of this network since 2015 completing a project entitled “Around Europe in children’s Digitales”. We identified European values, cultural diversity and common human rights through children’s stories and fairytales interactively using various digital tools. We ended up involving the heroes of the stories to create a digital comic book.

In 2016 we implement a new project entitled “European Museum e-Explorers” taking virtual tours to different museums, comparing European cultures. We visited the Ethnological Museum of Alexandroupolis and prepared a video promoting our city’s museum to member of the T4E network.

This Teachers4Europe – Setting an Agora for Democratic Culture challenge was great. A new agora should emerge that focuses on the active participation of citizens to Europe’s future. To this end, we became “ActiveDigiKids.eu” and delve into the European Digital Competence Framework for Citizens, also known as DigComp, to learn about the areas of digital competences needed for personal development, social inclusion, active citizenship and employment.

We got informed of the European Union countries, motto, Institutions and the 5 areas of Digital competences through this presentation https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1o2WDG98A_sq8-1deRkV_YCEzCe4t0r1NQPTeQqn0xAc/edit?usp=sharing
