The celebration of European Languages Day fosters cultural exchange and understanding among European communities. It encourages people to learn about different cultures, traditions, and ways of life through their respective languages.
It also helps to raise awareness about languages that are becoming extinct, the protection of minority languages, and the inclusion of linguistic minorities in Europe. Our students have decided this year to honor a local ancient dialect, the ‘tsakonika’, spoken by locals in Leonidion, at the borders of Laconia with Arkadia, the Roma dialect, since a number of Roma students attend our school and the Albanian language for the same reason besides English, Greek and Spanish.
Languages do not create barriers but are means of understanding, respect and inclusion and help combat negative stereotypes and cultural discrimination!
