This school year Gymnasio Gennadiou entered  Erasmus+ KA229 project “STEAM and Robotics: a new learning approach”. The project coordinator is Italy, and the partners are from Lithuania, Greece, Bulgaria and Croatia. The project duration is 24 months (September 2020 to September 2022).

The project focuses on the development of so-called “STEAM Skills” (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) in students. Project activities promote an interdisciplinary approach, which includes disciplines such as computing, mathematics and natural sciences using robotics as a tool to help students develop skills in computational thinking and problem solving.

Project activities started on eTwinning platform by selecting the official logo of the project, presenting students and teachers participating in the project and getting to know partner schools, cities and countries. Also, one of the first activities was the virtual meeting of a group of students from each country that took place on Wednesday, 10 March 2021. During the meeting, they got to know each other better and prepared various interactive games for their colleagues to learn more about the project and partner countries. It was exciting and fun to talk to colleagues from other countries in English and learn more about the project.
Since mobility planning is uncertain in the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic, and in anticipation of the first planned in Italy, project activities are realised both at the school level and internationally on the eTwinning platform through joint tasks for students and by planning international virtual workshops.
