“English originated in England and is the dominant language of the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, and various island nations in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. It is also an official language of India, the Philippines, Singapore, and many countries in sub-Saharan Africa, including South Africa. English is the first choice of foreign languages in most  countries of the world, and it is that status that has given it the position of a global lingua franca. It is estimated that about a third of the world’s population, some two billion people, now use English”.

Τα  ΒΙΒΛΙΑ ΣΕ ΡΟΔΕΣ® (Books on wheels) έφτασαν στο 4ο Δημοτικό Σχολείο Ηρακλείου Αττικής!! Πρόκειται για ένα  πρωτοποριακό  πρόγραμμα που φέρνει μικρές, κινητές, θεματικές και δανειστικές βιβλιοθήκες μέσα στις σχολικές τάξεις των δημόσιων δημοτικών σχολείων. Ο συγκεκριμένος σάκος περιέχει βιβλία στα Αγγλικά.

Σκοπός είναι να ενθαρρύνουμε  τα παιδιά να ξεφυλλίσουν, να ακούσουν ή να διαβάσουν τα βιβλία στο σχολείο ή στο σπίτι,  να αναγνωρίσουν  τις σκέψεις και τα συναισθήματα που τους προκαλούν και να τα μοιραστούν και να εξασκηθούν στην Αγγλική γλώσσα!!. Ετσι, σταδιακά αντιλαμβάνονται πως για κάθε θέμα υπάρχουν πολλές  προσεγγίσεις και  πως ένα βιβλίο μπορεί να γίνει συνοδοιπόρος σε διαφορετικές αναγνωστικές διαδρομές.
