5/12: Διεθνής Ημέρα Εθελοντισμού για την Οικονομική και Κοινωνική Ανάπτυξη
Η 5η Δεκεμβρίου καθιερώθηκε ως Διεθνής Ημέρα Εθελοντισμού για την Οικονομική και Κοινωνική Ανάπτυξη το 1985, με απόφαση της γενικής συνέλευσης του ΟΗΕ για να αποτίσει τον οφειλόμενο φόρο τιμής στα εκατομμύρια των εθελοντών, που είναι ταγμένοι στην υπηρεσία του ανθρώπου, συχνά με κίνδυνο της ζωής τους.
