CLIMATE CHANGE
What climate change is
The atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2) have increased to levels unprecedented in at least the last 800.000 years. Carbon dioxide concentrations have increased by 40% since pre-industrial times, primarily from fossil fuel emissions and secondarily from emissions from land use change
What are the effects of climate change
1) Global temperatures are increasing
Global temperatures have already increased by 0.8°C
2) ocean temperatures are increasing
Ocean heat has been increasing steadily since 1955
3) Ocean are acidifying
The ocean has absorbed about 30% of the emitted anthropogenic carbon dioxide, causing ocean acidification
