As the school year comes to a close, it’s the perfect time to look back and celebrate everything we’ve accomplished together. What a productive, creative, and inspiring year it has been!

From the very first day in September to the last goodbyes in June, our classrooms have been full of curiosity, laughter, and learning. Whether it was tackling new challenges, discovering new interests, or growing in confidence, each of our students brought something special to the group—and we’re so proud of how far they’ve come.

📚 What We Learned

This year wasn’t just about textbooks and tests. It was about exploring ideas, asking questions, and working together. My students have sharpened their reading and writing skills, deepened their understanding of the world, and learned how to think critically and creatively.

They’ve also developed important life skills—teamwork, time management, responsibility, and kindness. These lessons are just as valuable as anything found in a curriculum.

The Beauty of Autumn: A Season of Change and Reflection

As the golden light of summer begins to fade, we find ourselves gently stepping into the arms of autumn. It’s a season of transition, a time where nature dresses itself in the most breathtaking hues of amber, gold, and crimson. The once vibrant green leaves slowly surrender to the crisp air, creating a patchwork of color that transforms every landscape into a masterpiece.

Autumn is a time of change—visible not just in nature but within ourselves as well. It signals the closing of one chapter and the quiet anticipation of the next. The shortening days and cooling nights invite us to slow down, reflect, and embrace the fleeting beauty that surrounds us.

One of the most beloved aspects of autumn is the feeling it brings—a comforting blend of warmth and nostalgia. There’s something magical about the way the air smells in fall, a mixture of wood smoke, crisp apples, and fallen leaves. Whether it’s taking long walks through the park, savoring a cup of spiced cider, or cozying up with a good book, autumn offers simple pleasures that warm the soul.

As Albert Camus so eloquently said, “Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.” His words capture the essence of this season perfectly. While it might mark the end of the year’s growth, autumn also offers its own rebirth in a final burst of beauty before winter’s arrival. Every falling leaf reminds us that endings can be as beautiful as beginnings.

Beyond its visual beauty, autumn brings the joy of seasonal rituals—harvest festivals, pumpkin carving, and the irresistible allure of comfort foods. The abundance of apples, pumpkins, and root vegetables fills our kitchens, inviting us to create hearty meals that nourish both body and spirit. And for many, it’s the season of baking, where ovens are filled with the warmth of pies, breads, and spiced treats, as we savor every moment of autumn’s bounty.

As you step into this season, take a moment to appreciate its beauty. Embrace the changes around you and within you, for autumn is a reminder that there is grace in letting go. Just as the trees shed their leaves to prepare for new growth, so too can we shed what no longer serves us and make space for the new.

Autumn teaches us that change, though inevitable, can be beautiful—and in that beauty, we find peace.

The first day of autumn, also known as “the autumnal equinox”, typically falls on September 22 or on September 23 in the Northern Hemisphere. In 2024, autumn begins on September 22.

On this day, day and night are nearly equal in length, marking the transition from summer to fall. The equinox is a beautiful reminder of balance in nature, as it symbolizes the equal distribution of daylight and darkness.

In the UK, the Epiphany tradition is highly regarded by many people as it marks the end of the festive season with a celebration that often goes beyond the familiar festivities of Christmas. Epiphany, which falls on January 6th, commemorates the arrival of the Magi to the infant Jesus, symbolizing the revelation of Christ to the Gentiles.

One of these traditions is Twelfth Night in Britain. This ancient custom involves taking down Christmas decorations and the Christmas tree on either January 5th or 6th night. It is considered bad luck to keep decorations up beyond this point according to tradition and households gather for a final evening of merriment before bidding farewell to the holiday season.

The highlight of Twelfth Night is cutting of King Cake. This rich and fruity confection contains a hidden charm or trinket, symbolizing baby Jesus. As slices are made through it, whoever finds this hidden charm becomes “king” or “queen” for that night thus adding an element of fun and festivity to the occasion.

In various regions, Epiphany is celebrated through the lively spectacles of “Mummers Plays,” performed by amateur actors in vibrant attire and elaborate masks. These short, humorous plays have a long history and depict the eternal struggle between good and evil. According to tradition, their performance brings good luck and protects against malevolent forces for the upcoming year.

While Christmas may take the spotlight, Epiphany holds its own significance in the UK, boasting unique traditions rooted in the past. The festive spirit of coming together, merriment, and the symbolic act of collectively taking down decorations add to the diverse tapestry of British cultural festivities, truly making it a feast for the senses.

Το παιδί σας και τα πιστοποιητικά γλωσσομάθειας

Σε τι χρησιμεύει στο παιδί μου η πιστοποίηση γλωσσομάθειας;

Η γνώση ξένων γλωσσών είναι πολύ χρήσιμο εφόδιο για τον καθένα μας. Με ένα πιστοποιητικό γλωσσομάθειας όμως μπορούμε να αποδείξουμε σε κάποιον το πόσο καλά γνωρίζουμε μια γλώσσα. Είναι κυρίως προσόν για:

• Επαγγελματική αποκατάσταση (τόσο στη χώρα μας όσο και στο εξωτερικό)
• Είσοδο σε προπτυχιακά και μεταπτυχιακά προγράμματα πανεπιστημίων του εσωτερικού και του εξωτερικού

Πώς να επιλέξω το κατάλληλο πιστοποιητικό;

Επιλέγοντας το κατάλληλο πιστοποιητικό για το παιδί μου λαμβάνω υπόψη μου τα ακόλουθα:

• Να είναι αναγνωρισμένο
• Να είναι έγκυρο και αξιόπιστο
• Να είναι αδιάβλητο
• Να είναι οικονομικό
• Να προετοιμάζει το παιδί μου για την καθημερινή χρήση της γλώσσας
• Να γίνεται εύκολα η διαδικασία εγγραφής του παιδιού μου
• Να υπάρχει εύκολη πρόσβαση στο υλικό των εξετάσεων

Τι σημαίνει «αναγνωρισμένο» πιστοποιητικό;

Διεθνώς, δεν υπάρχει ένα ενιαίο σύστημα αξιολόγησης των πιστοποιητικών γλωσσομάθειας που να καθιστά κάποιο πιστοποιητικό πιο έγκυρο από τα υπόλοιπα. Οι δημόσιοι φορείς των κρατών μελών της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης αναγνωρίζουν πιστοποιητικά που έχουν εκδοθεί από ένα επίσημο όργανο ή εθνική υπηρεσία άλλου κράτους-μέλους. Στο δε ελληνικό δημόσιο τομέα, τα πιστοποιητικά που πληρούν τις προϋποθέσεις «αναγνώρισης» συμπεριλαμβάνονται στο προσοντολόγιο του ΑΣΕΠ και μοριοδοτούνται ανάλογα με το επίπεδο γλωσσομάθειας. Η «αναγνωρισιμότητα» των πιστοποιητικών, κυρίως από ιδιωτικούς φορείς δε βασίζεται σε συγκεκριμένα κριτήρια και, συνεπώς, είναι στην ευχέρεια του εκάστοτε τομέα το ποια πιστοποιητικά θα αναγνωρίσει. Το ίδιο ισχύει και για τον ελληνικό ιδιωτικό τομέα.

Αν το παιδί μου έχει αποκτήσει ένα πιστοποιητικό γλωσσομάθειας, ξέρει σίγουρα να μιλά μια ξένη γλώσσα;

Κατέχω ένα πιστοποιητικό που βεβαιώνει επίσημα τη γνώση μου σε αυτή τη γλώσσα ΔΕ σημαίνει ότι γνωρίζω μια ξένη γλώσσα. Η γνώση μιας ξένης γλώσσας είναι ζωντανή, εξελίσσεται και δε σταματά ούτε και εξασφαλίζεται αποκλειστικά με την απόκτηση ενός πιστοποιητικού. Μιλάω μια ξένη γλώσσα σημαίνει ΕΠΙΚΟΙΝΩΝΩ συνεχώς με αυτή και τη ΧΡΗΣΙΜΟΠΟΙΩ με βάση τις ανάγκες μου. Μπορώ δηλαδή:

• Να καταλαβαίνω ανθρώπους όταν μιλούν τη γλώσσα αυτή
• Να μπορώ να χρησιμοποιώ τη γλώσσα για να συνεννοηθώ όταν, για παράδειγμα, κάνω ένα ταξίδι σε μια ξένη χώρα
• Να στέλνω μήνυμα μέσω ηλεκτρονικού ταχυδρομείου
• Να διαβάζω ξένες εφημερίδες και περιοδικά
• Να βλέπω videos ή να διαβάζω κείμενα στο διαδίκτυο και να τα καταλαβαίνω κ.α.

Πότε είναι καλό το παιδί μου να δώσει εξετάσεις γλωσσομάθειας;

Πολλοί γονείς στην Ελλάδα ενθαρρύνουν τα παιδιά τους να συμμετέχουν σε εξετάσεις για να εξοικειώνονται με τις συνθήκες εξέτασης από μικρή ηλικία. Το ΚΠΓ ανταποκρίνεται στην ανάγκη αυτή, προβλέπει πιστοποίηση για στοιχειώδη και βασική γνώση της ξένης γλώσσας (Επίπεδο Α), σχεδιάζοντας και εξετάσεις που απευθύνονται σε μικρά παιδιά.

Το παιδί σας και το Κρατικό Πιστοποιητικό Γλωσσομάθειας

Γιατί να επιλέξω το ΚΠΓ για το παιδί μου

• Είναι ένα πιστοποιητικό αναγνωρισμένο στην Ελλάδα και στα κράτη-μέλη της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης.
• Τα εξέταστρα για τις εξετάσεις του ΚΠΓ είναι χαμηλότερα από κάθε άλλο αναγνωρισμένο πιστοποιητικό γλωσσομάθειας.
• Το ΚΠΓ παρέχει δωρεάν πρόσβαση σε προηγούμενα θέματα, βοηθώντας έτσι το γονιό να ενημερωθεί και να προετοιμάσει το παιδί του για τις εξετάσεις.
• Το ΚΠΓ γλιτώνει το γονιό από περιττά έξοδα μέσα από τη διαβαθμισμένη εξέταση, που δίνει τη δυνατότητα στο μαθητή με υψηλή επίδοση να πιστοποιήσει νωρίτερα τις γνώσεις του στην ξένη γλώσσα.
• Το ΚΠΓ με τη διαβαθμισμένη εξέταση πλησιάζει τις ανάγκες του κάθε υποψηφίου, δίνοντάς του τη δυνατότητα να δοκιμάσει τις ικανότητές του σε δύο επίπεδα μέσα από μια μόνο εξέταση.
• Ο σχεδιασμός και τα θέματα των εξετάσεων του ΚΠΓ για όλες τις γλώσσες είναι βασισμένα σε επιστημονικές έρευνες που διεξάγονται στο Εθνικό και Καποδιστριακό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών και το Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης. Αυτό εξασφαλίζει την εγκυρότητα και την αξιοπιστία των εξετάσεων που ελέγχονται από τις επιστημονικές ομάδες των δύο Πανεπιστημίων.
• Οι εξετάσεις του ΚΠΓ είναι αδιάβλητες καθώς ακολουθούν την ίδια διαδικασία με τις Πανελλήνιες εξετάσεις.
• Οι εξετάσεις του ΚΠΓ σχεδιάζονται αποκλειστικά για τον Έλληνα χρήστη της ξένης γλώσσας.
• Το ΚΠΓ χρησιμοποιεί αυθεντικά κείμενα, εξετάζοντας την ικανότητα του παιδιού σας να μεταφέρει κάποιες από τις πληροφορίες τους στην ξένη γλώσσα. Του εξασκεί δηλαδή την ικανότητα διαμεσολάβησης.
• Εξοικειώνει και ζητά από τον υποψήφιο παραγωγή διαφόρων κειμένων (π.χ. e-mail, κείμενο σε blog), με τα οποία έρχεται κανείς σε επαφή σε συνθήκες πραγματικής επικοινωνίας.

Το ΚΠΓ αναγνωρίζεται στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό;

Το ΚΠΓ περιλαμβάνεται στο προσοντολόγιο του ΑΣΕΠ και είναι αναγνωρισμένο στο δημόσιο και ιδιωτικό τομέα στην Ελλάδα. Επίσης, ως πιστοποιητικό που εκδίδεται και φέρει τη σφραγίδα του Υπουργείου Παιδείας της Ελλάδας αναγνωρίζεται αυτόματα από επίσημα όργανα και υπηρεσίες των άλλων κρατών-μελών της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης.

Τι σημαίνει η διαβαθμισμένη  εξέταση;

Μέσω της διαβαθμισμένης εξέτασης δίνεται η ευκαιρία στον υποψήφιο να δοκιμαστεί σε δύο επίπεδα ταυτόχρονα με μία μόνο εξέταση, γλιτώνοντας έτσι χρόνο και χρήματα. Οι υποψήφιοι που συμμετέχουν σε διαβαθμισμένη εξέταση έχουν περισσότερες πιθανότητες να λάβουν πιστοποίηση για ένα από τα δύο επίπεδα στα οποία θα εξεταστούν.

Πώς μπορεί το παιδί μου να συμμετάσχει στις εξετάσεις πιστοποίησης;

Για να συμμετέχει κάποιος στις εξετάσεις του ΚΠΓ χρειάζεται τα παρακάτω:

• Να συμπληρώσει αίτηση συμμετοχής που βρίσκεται στις Διευθύνσεις ή τα Γραφεία Δευτεροβάθμιας Εκπαίδευσης και στην ιστοσελίδαγια το ΚΠΓ του Υπουργείου Παιδείας.
• Να προσκομίσει μία φωτογραφία μικρού μεγέθους.
• Παράβολο δημοσίου με τα εξέταστρα, τα οποία διαφέρουν ανά επίπεδο. Η πληροφορία αυτή βρίσκεται στην ιστοσελίδατου Υπουργείου Παιδείας.
• Φωτοτυπία των δύο όψεων της αστυνομικής ταυτότητας ή διαβατηρίου ή άλλο νόμιμο αποδεικτικό ταυτοπροσωπίας (π.χ. πιστοποιητικό γέννησης του υποψήφιου).
