Στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος Erasmus+, από τις 6 έως τις 11 Ιουλίου 2026, ο εκπαιδευτικός του σχολείου κ. Γεώργιος Θώδης συμμετείχε στο επιμορφωτικό σεμινάριο «Art and Nature: A Sustainable Approach for All Teachers», που διοργανώθηκε από την Europass Teacher Academy στην Τενερίφη της Ισπανίας. Το πρόγραμμα επικεντρώθηκε στη σύνδεση της τέχνης και της φύσης με την εκπαίδευση, προτείνοντας πρακτικές που μπορούν να εφαρμοστούν σε κάθε σχολικό περιβάλλον, ανεξάρτητα από το γνωστικό αντικείμενο του εκπαιδευτικού.
Κατά τη διάρκεια της επιμόρφωσης αναδείχθηκε ο καθοριστικός ρόλος της καλλιτεχνικής δημιουργίας στην ανάπτυξη της περιβαλλοντικής συνείδησης και της ενεργού συμμετοχής των μαθητών. Οι συμμετέχοντες είχαν την ευκαιρία να γνωρίσουν τη φιλοσοφία της βιώσιμης τέχνης μέσα από βιωματικές δραστηριότητες, αξιοποιώντας φυσικά, ανακυκλώσιμα και μη τοξικά υλικά, ενώ παράλληλα διερεύνησαν τρόπους με τους οποίους η δημιουργική έκφραση μπορεί να ενσωματωθεί στην καθημερινή εκπαιδευτική διαδικασία.
Ξεχωριστή θέση στο πρόγραμμα κατείχαν οι υπαίθριες δράσεις, όπως η δημιουργία έργων Land Art, η κατασκευή φυσικών χρωστικών, οι ασκήσεις παρατήρησης και σχεδίου στη φύση, καθώς και οι συνεργατικές δραστηριότητες που ενίσχυσαν τον αναστοχασμό γύρω από τη βιώσιμη ανάπτυξη. Ιδιαίτερη έμφαση δόθηκε επίσης στη δημιουργία ενός συμπεριληπτικού και συνεργατικού μαθησιακού περιβάλλοντος, όπου η τέχνη λειτουργεί ως εργαλείο έκφρασης, επικοινωνίας και συμμετοχής για όλους τους μαθητές.
Εξίσου σημαντική ήταν η συνεργασία με εκπαιδευτικούς από άλλες ευρωπαϊκές χώρες, η οποία επέτρεψε την ανταλλαγή εμπειριών, τη γνωριμία με διαφορετικές εκπαιδευτικές προσεγγίσεις και τη διαμόρφωση κοινών ιδεών για δράσεις που προωθούν τη βιωσιμότητα στο σχολείο. Οι πολιτιστικές επισκέψεις και η επαφή με το ιδιαίτερο φυσικό περιβάλλον της Τενερίφης συμπλήρωσαν δημιουργικά την επιμορφωτική εμπειρία.
Η συμμετοχή στο συγκεκριμένο πρόγραμμα αποτέλεσε μια ουσιαστική ευκαιρία επαγγελματικής εξέλιξης και ανανέωσης της εκπαιδευτικής πρακτικής.
Οι γνώσεις και οι εμπειρίες που αποκτήθηκαν θα αξιοποιηθούν στη σχολική κοινότητα, με στόχο την ανάπτυξη δράσεων που συνδυάζουν την καλλιτεχνική δημιουργία με την περιβαλλοντική ευαισθητοποίηση, καλλιεργώντας στους μαθητές δημιουργικότητα, συνεργασία και υπεύθυνη στάση απέναντι στον κόσμο που τους περιβάλλει.
Art as a path to sustainability: An Erasmus+ Learning Mobility in Tenerife
From 6 to 11 July 2026, within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme, our school teacher’s, Georgios Thodis’, participation in the training course “Art and Nature: A Sustainable Approach for All Teachers”, organised by Europass Teacher Academy in Tenerife, Spain, offered a unique opportunity for professional development and international collaboration.
The course explored the connection between art, nature, and education, presenting innovative teaching approaches that can be adapted across different subjects and educational contexts. Its main objective was to demonstrate how artistic expression can become a powerful tool for promoting environmental awareness, sustainability, and active student engagement.
Through a wide range of experiential workshops, participants explored the principles of sustainable art by working with natural, recycled, and non-toxic materials. The programme also encouraged reflection on ways of integrating creativity into everyday classroom practice, helping teachers design meaningful learning experiences that inspire students to care for the environment.
One of the highlights of the course was the outdoor learning component, which included Land Art activities, the creation of natural pigments, nature observation and sketching, and collaborative projects focused on the Sustainable Development Goals. These activities demonstrated how outdoor education and artistic expression can foster creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and environmental responsibility. The course also promoted inclusive teaching practices, recognizing art as a universal language that encourages participation and self-expression for all learners.
An equally valuable aspect of the mobility was the opportunity to collaborate with teachers from different European countries. The exchange of ideas, educational experiences, and good practices strengthened intercultural understanding and inspired new approaches to integrating sustainability into school life. Cultural visits and direct contact with Tenerife’s unique natural environment further enriched the learning experience.
The knowledge and practical methodologies acquired during the course will be disseminated within the school community and incorporated into future educational activities.
By combining artistic creativity with environmental education, these initiatives aim to cultivate students’ creativity, collaboration, environmental awareness, and responsible citizenship, while reinforcing the European dimension of teaching and learning through the Erasmus+ Programme.
