Date: October 29, 2026
With feelings of pride, emotion, and national unity, our school community celebrated the historic anniversary of October 28, 1940 (“OXI Day”). The main school ceremony took place on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 09:00 AM in the hall of GEL Asvestochoriou.
The event opened with the official reading of the Teachers’ Council Decision regarding the appointment of the Flag Bearer and Escorts for the 2025–2026 school year. Following the announcement, student Excellence and Progress Awards were presented amidst warm applause to those who excelled in academic performance and character during the previous school year.
The celebration continued with historical reflections, chronicles of the era, timely messages, and commemorative songs.
Honoring a beautiful and meaningful tradition established at our school over the years, we were deeply moved to welcome once again the choir of KDAP MEA “APOSPERITIS” (Daycare Center for Individuals with Disabilities). The joint performance of the “Aposperitis” choir alongside our students filled the hall with powerful messages of inclusion, love, equality, and unity—proving that historical memory truly unites us all!
Warm congratulations go to the teachers in charge of the celebration, Ms. Anastasia Malasioti and Ms. Maria Eleftheriou, for their exceptional organization and guidance, as well as to all participating students.
The commemorative events concluded the following day, Wednesday, October 28, 2026. Our Flag Bearer and Escorts carried the Greek Flag to the Church of St. George in Asvestochori for the official Doxology service.
This was followed by the impressive student parade, where the boys and girls of GEL Asvestochoriou marched with pride, respect, and rhythm, earning enthusiastic applause from parents, teachers, and local residents.
Happy Anniversary to Asvestochori, Happy Anniversary to Greece!
