An Erasmus+ activity from the Madeira course, teaching resilience;
All of us have fears but we need to find ways to overcome them. Thus the pupils wrote down their fears about what the new school year holds and then they wrote positive thoughts that will help them overcome them. For example they are afraid that they won’t be good at history, so they decided to study harder. Not only did they have to express their fears to their group but also discuss or ask for help in order to find a positive and practical way to solve their problem. After that the two groups presented their work in class.
Class E conducted a survey about how they use the internet. Then we went to the computer room and they made graphs on excel for the first time, while reading the instructions in English. Finally they discussed their findings looking at their graphs.
Starting off the year with a great bonding activity; the pupils closed their eyes and had to trust that their ‘guarding angel’ would lead them safely around the schoolyard.
A simple yet amazing activity that teaches how to trust, to believe in someone, to support and be a good friend; values that are necessary not only for the year ahead, but for a lifetime!
This is an Erasmus+ activity from the seminar held in Madeira back in August.
An Erasmus+ activity from the Barcelona seminar was introduced in class today!
The pupils were divided in teams with the mission to build a very tall tower using spaghetti, some string, plasticine and tape! Although it came out to be quite a difficult task, all the teams succeeded in engaging in fruitful dialogue, in expressing opinions, putting ideas to test, changing plans and in trying out many methods. All in a friendly and cooperative way, which was the main aim of this activity! Mission accomplished, then! Congratulations everyone!
From the desks of Barcelona, back to ours, after an amazing Erasmus+ week where we attended the ‘A European School for All children’ seminar. The seminar was about tolerance, inclusion, multiculturalism, equal opportunities and diversity. Eight teachers from four countries (Italy, Austria, the Czech Republic and Greece) took part in it.
Back from Funchal, Madeira, after a week full of new knowledge, new friends and unforgettable experiences!
Our school, the 2nd Primary School of Akrata, participated in the Erasmus+ staff mobility entitled ‘Project management for cross-cultural exchange projects in Europe’ along with other 46 teachers from 8 European countries (Greece, Lithuania, Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland, Hungary).
Today we went on a bug hunt around the school! We worked in two groups and looked for bugs with the magnifying glasses then kept notes on the worksheets! Back at school we counted and reported in class,; we saw lots of ants, some flies and butterflies, a couple of grasshoppers and spiders. We had a lovely time!

Class D enjoyed a cooking class today! First they watched this video made by class F last year, then they made their own ice cream. They were very well organized, they collaborated perfectly and had brought all the ingredients and equipment. Their imagination and cooking skills were out of this world!
The boys’ team went for a triple chocolate and cookies ice cream whereas the girls’ team made a fairy tale pink vanilla and milk chocolate chips ice cream. The kids also made a smaller tin with cookies ice cream for the teachers. Can’t wait to taste them tomorrow! Congratulations, everyone! So proud of you!
After learning the body parts of bugs, the kids made some hungry bugs on green leaves to take home with them. Such an enjoyable activity! Their bugs turned out so unique as they used their imagination.
Class E learned how to read an English recipe and made chocolate chip cookies today!
There is no photo of the baked cookies because they ate them all at once!
Can you draw a face with your eyes closed?
We laughed so much today with the outcomes!
Such fun!
Class A finished their art work and presented it in class today. After the presentation their amazing paintings were put on the wall for everyone to admire.
Well done!
