With great joy and festive spirit, our 6th-grade students are taking us this year into the magical world of Christmas melodies through two beloved English-language songs: Carol of the Bells and The Twelve Days of Christmas. 🎄✨

Carol of the Bells, with its distinctive melody, gave the students the opportunity to experience a different style of Christmas music, working on rhythm, collaboration, and expression, creating a beautiful holiday atmosphere.

In The Twelve Days of Christmas, a traditional English song full of imagination and rhythm, the children discovered the joy of storytelling through song, practicing their vocabulary and memory in a playful and creative way. Each “day” brought a new gift, each verse a little celebration!

The festive experience was completed with the creation of a fun Christmas dance video! The students let their imagination and creativity run free, combining music, movement, and team spirit. With smiles, energy, and Christmas cheer, rhythm became a form of expression, and the school hall transformed into a little celebration. This video stands as a special memory of their efforts and captures in the most authentic way the joy of collaboration and creative learning.

Κατά την τελευταία διδακτική ώρα της Τρίτης 16 Δεκεμβρίου 2025, οι μαθητές του Στ1 του σχολείου μας, συμμετείχαν σε μία ξεχωριστή και εορταστική διασχολική τηλεδιάσκεψη με τους μαθητές της Στ’ τάξης του 4ου Δημοτικού Σχολείου Σπάρτης.

Η τηλεσυνάντηση υλοποιήθηκε στο πλαίσιο της διδασκαλίας της Αγγλικής Γλώσσας, έπειτα από πρόσκληση του εκπαιδευτικού Αγγλικής Γλώσσας και Υποδιευθυντή του 4ου Δ.Σ. Σπάρτης, κ. Γεώργιου Πασταρματζή, την οποία αποδεχθήκαμε με ιδιαίτερη χαρά. Στόχος της δράσης ήταν η αυθεντική επικοινωνία των μαθητών μας στα Αγγλικά, μέσα από ένα ευχάριστο, εορταστικό και δημιουργικό πλαίσιο.

Κατά τη διάρκεια της τηλεδιάσκεψης, μαθητές και εκπαιδευτικοί των δύο σχολείων συστήθηκαν στα Αγγλικά, αντάλλαξαν εορταστικές ευχές και στη συνέχεια παρουσίασαν αγγλόφωνα χριστουγεννιάτικα τραγούδια. Οι μαθητές του Στ1 ερμήνευσαν το παραδοσιακό βρετανικό τραγούδι “Twelve Days of Christmas”, ένα ιδιαίτερα γνωστό και αγαπημένο τραγούδι στον αγγλόφωνο κόσμο, το οποίο συνδέεται διαχρονικά με την εορταστική περίοδο. Από την πλευρά τους, οι μαθητές/τριες του 4ου Δ.Σ. Σπάρτης τραγούδησαν το “Last Christmas”, μία διαχρονική επιτυχία της δεκαετίας του ’80.

Η άψογη συνεργασία των δύο σχολικών μονάδων, η συστηματική προετοιμασία των εκπαιδευτικών και η ενθουσιώδης συμμετοχή των μαθητών συνέβαλαν σε ένα άρτιο παιδαγωγικό αποτέλεσμα, στο οποίο κυριάρχησαν η επικοινωνιακή χρήση της Αγγλικής Γλώσσας, η καλλιέργεια της προφορικής έκφρασης και η διαπολιτισμική δημιουργική προσέγγιση. Παρά τη γεωγραφική απόσταση, τα σχολεία μας ήρθαν πιο κοντά μέσα από τη γλώσσα, τη μουσική και το εορταστικό πνεύμα.

Η εποικοδομητική αυτή σύμπραξη ολοκληρώθηκε με την ανταλλαγή αναμνηστικών. Εκ μέρους του σχολείου μας, αποστείλαμε ηλεκτρονική κάρτα με ευχές και τον σύνδεσμο ενός εκπαιδευτικού ψηφιακού παιχνιδιού, που δημιούργησε η εκπαιδευτικός Αγγλικής Γλώσσας για δημιουργική αξιοποίηση στην τάξη, ενώ λάβαμε μία επιστολή που περιελάμβανε –μέσω QR codes– εορταστικές ψηφιακές δραστηριότητες σε δύο γλώσσες και ένα σύγχρονο πλάνο πολυμεσικών δράσεων για το εορταστικό δωδεκαήμερο.

Η δράση αυτή αποτέλεσε μια πολύτιμη εμπειρία για τους μαθητές μας, ενισχύοντας τη χαρά της μάθησης, τη συνεργασία και την ουσιαστική χρήση της ξένης γλώσσας σε αυθεντικά επικοινωνιακά πλαίσια.

In the UK, the Epiphany tradition is highly regarded by many people as it marks the end of the festive season with a celebration that often goes beyond the familiar festivities of Christmas. Epiphany, which falls on January 6th, commemorates the arrival of the Magi to the infant Jesus, symbolizing the revelation of Christ to the Gentiles.

One of these traditions is Twelfth Night in Britain. This ancient custom involves taking down Christmas decorations and the Christmas tree on either January 5th or 6th night. It is considered bad luck to keep decorations up beyond this point according to tradition and households gather for a final evening of merriment before bidding farewell to the holiday season.

The highlight of Twelfth Night is cutting of King Cake. This rich and fruity confection contains a hidden charm or trinket, symbolizing baby Jesus. As slices are made through it, whoever finds this hidden charm becomes “king” or “queen” for that night thus adding an element of fun and festivity to the occasion.

In various regions, Epiphany is celebrated through the lively spectacles of “Mummers Plays,” performed by amateur actors in vibrant attire and elaborate masks. These short, humorous plays have a long history and depict the eternal struggle between good and evil. According to tradition, their performance brings good luck and protects against malevolent forces for the upcoming year.

While Christmas may take the spotlight, Epiphany holds its own significance in the UK, boasting unique traditions rooted in the past. The festive spirit of coming together, merriment, and the symbolic act of collectively taking down decorations add to the diverse tapestry of British cultural festivities, truly making it a feast for the senses.
