The following learning scenario created as an outcome of the MOOC NBS: Training approaches for educators and teacher trainers” titled ”Introducing Biodiversity and Nature Based Solutions to teacher trainees in CPD’; is targeted to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) trainers training mainly in-service teachers. Its theme is focusing on Biodiversity and Biodiversity loss as a phenomenon we experience in our everyday life with the conversation round sustainability growing more urgent than ever. This LS aims at promoting Biodiversity awareness and Nature Based Solutions among educators, building resilience in their students and their school environment. At the end of this LS, trainees (in-service teachers) understand that Biodiversity and Nature Based Solutions are tightly connected with sustainability and link human wellbeing directly with the health of natural systems. Pedagogical approaches based on teamwork combine IBL, PBL, GBL linking Outdoor learning through whole School approach. In detail the trainees 1. understand the definition of Nature Based Solutions and their aim to provide sustainability (what they are, why they matter, what benefits/challenges they address) and investigate examples of implementing using the platform NBSeduworld.eu https://nbseduworld.eu/resourcesNBS . 2. understand that Biodiversity and NBS are interconnected and NBS benefit biodiversity and support the delivery of a range of ecosystem services 3. get acquainted with the Scientix.eu https://www.scientix.eu/ community platform and NBS Academy, where they learn about its aims, projects, campaigns offering plenty opportunities to engage with high – quality teaching/learning materials, webinars and shared initiatives 4. explore the platform https://greenopolis.regreen-project.eu/ where they choose to implement, according to their needs, interests and subjects they teach, some of the proposed activities, working in teams. 5. evaluate 21rst Century skills – 4Cs (communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity) as well as Dig Comp and Green Competences For more info please visit the link attached:

STEM DISCOVERY CAMPAIGN-2026_ Scientix .eu

Celebrating Green Education through Nature-Based Solutions: My STEM Discovery Campaign 2026 Journey

The STEM Discovery Campaign 2026, organised by Scientix in collaboration with the Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) Education Community, once again demonstrated the power of collaboration in inspiring innovative STEM education. Bringing together educators from every corner of the globe, the campaign celebrated creative teaching practices that empower learners to address real-world challenges through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

I am delighted and deeply honoured to have been selected as one of the winners in the Green Education category for my learning scenario, “Introducing Biodiversity and Nature-Based Solutions to Teacher Trainees in CPD.” This recognition is both a personal milestone and an affirmation of the importance of preparing educators to integrate sustainability and biodiversity into their teaching.

The learning scenario was developed as an outcome of the MOOC NBS: Training approaches for educators and teacher trainers” titled ”Introducing Biodiversity and Nature Based Solutions to teacher trainees in CPD’ and is targeted to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) trainers training mainly in-service teachers. Its theme is focusing on Biodiversity and Biodiversity loss as a phenomenon we experience in our everyday life with the conversation round sustainability growing more urgent than ever.  By combining scientific knowledge with practical, inquiry-based activities, the learning scenario encourages future educators to explore how nature can help address environmental and societal challenges while inspiring their own students to become active, informed citizens.

When educators gain the confidence, knowledge, and pedagogical tools to teach about biodiversity and Nature-Based Solutions, they are better equipped to create meaningful learning experiences that connect STEM with everyday life. This multiplier effect extends far beyond a single classroom, reaching schools, communities, and future generations.

Participating in the STEM Discovery Campaign since 2023 and, especially in the STEM Discovery Campaign 2026 was a truly rewarding experience as I was one of the winners. Beyond the opportunity to showcase my work, it provided a platform to exchange ideas with passionate educators, discover inspiring STEM initiatives, and become part of a vibrant international community committed to innovation and collaboration.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Scientix and the Nature-Based Solutions Education Community for organising this inspiring campaign. Their continued efforts and inspiration encourages educators to design learning experiences that foster environmental awareness, critical thinking, creativity, and responsible citizenship.

I also hope that this recognition will encourage more educators to explore Nature-Based Solutions in their own teaching and to participate in future STEM Discovery Campaigns by Scientix.eu. Every activity shared, every idea exchanged, and every collaboration formed contributes to a stronger, more sustainable future for STEM education.

Together, we can empower learners not only to understand the challenges facing our planet but also to become part of the solutions.

Connecting Citizen Science in class with the Soil Plastic App (a Secondary education LS based on STEM)

# Scientix.eu

”Connecting citizen science in class with the Soil Plastic App’’, a learning Scenario as an outcome from the European Schoolnet Academy MOOC ‘Addressing Societal Challenges with Citizen Science”  authored and presented by Eirini Anastasiadou, a Scientix Ambassador from Greece, based on Soil Mission combining MINAGRIS project and Soil Health, one of the five important EU missions. Its structure is based on STEM and aligns with broader STEM education strategies and competences framework. See the learning scenario in detail here: CROPS+CitizenScience_CROPS-MOOC-Learning-Scenarion_Final.Eirini Anastasiadou_13112025_

In a few words, its aim is mainly to arouse students’ interest and concern for Soil health as soil remains a fragile resource that needs to be carefully managed and safeguarded by future generations. It also gives the opportunity for students as citizen scientists, to engage in outdoor and indoor activities, observing and monitoring their nearby areas with the help of MINAGRIS Project and the use of Soil plastic App. Here is the presentation using canva.com:

My Learning Scenario for Developing STEM skills using cross- curricular teaching pathways”_Scientix.eu

SA logo color

#Scientix.eu

Here is a presentation of my Learning scenario as a Scientix Ambassador, for developing and promoting STEM skills using cross-curricular pathways. It is centered on soil health, and designed to support educators—both locally and internationally—through the exchange of effective practices and adaptable teaching approaches by using multiple STEM disciplines (such as biology, chemistry, geography, and geology) while emphasizing both indoor and outdoor learning environments. The activities are aligned with global priorities like the Sustainable Development Goals. The methodology is also aligned with inquiry-based, project-based, and experiential learning, applying the “Spider Web of Learning” framework to promote active student participation, critical thinking, and collaboration. The target group consists of upper secondary students (aged 16–17), who engage in collaborative tasks that develop scientific understanding, environmental awareness, and 21st-century skills. For my colleagues and educators from different countries, the scenario highlights the teacher’s role as a facilitator and provides a flexible, interdisciplinary model that can be adapted across educational systems, encouraging the integration of STEM through meaningful, real-life applications both inside and outside the classroom.
