The following learning scenario created as an outcome of the MOOC NBS: Training approaches for educators and teacher trainers” titled ”Introducing Biodiversity and Nature Based Solutions to teacher trainees in CPD’; is targeted to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) trainers training mainly in-service teachers. Its theme is focusing on Biodiversity and Biodiversity loss as a phenomenon we experience in our everyday life with the conversation round sustainability growing more urgent than ever. This LS aims at promoting Biodiversity awareness and Nature Based Solutions among educators, building resilience in their students and their school environment.At the end of this LS, trainees (in-service teachers) understand that Biodiversity and Nature Based Solutions are tightly connected with sustainability and link human wellbeing directly with the health of natural systems. Pedagogical approaches based on teamwork combine IBL, PBL, GBL linking Outdoor learning through whole School approach. In detail the trainees 1. understand the definition of Nature Based Solutions and their aim to provide sustainability (what they are, why they matter, what benefits/challenges they address) and investigate examples of implementing using the platform NBSeduworld.eu https://nbseduworld.eu/resourcesNBS . 2. understand that Biodiversity and NBS are interconnected and NBS benefit biodiversity and support the delivery of a range of ecosystem services 3. get acquainted with the Scientix.eu https://www.scientix.eu/ community platform and NBS Academy, where they learn about its aims, projects, campaigns offering plenty opportunities to engage with high – quality teaching/learning materials, webinars and shared initiatives 4. explore the platform https://greenopolis.regreen-project.eu/ where they choose to implement, according to their needs, interests and subjects they teach, some of the proposed activities, working in teams. 5. evaluate 21rst Century skills – 4Cs (communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity) as well as Dig Comp and Green Competences For more info please visit the link attached:
