School Context – A School that Perseveres, Innovates, and Engages with its Community
The 2nd Kindergarten of Nea Artaki operates entirely in prefabricated classrooms, facing daily challenges that require flexibility, creativity, and a strong educational vision. Despite its limited infrastructure, it is a highly awarded and dynamic school with a large student population and a strong commitment to innovation, inclusion, and community engagement.
At our school, digital technologies and open educational resources are not considered a luxury but an opportunity to provide equal learning experiences, empower children, and develop essential life skills regardless of the physical learning environment.
The Idea Behind the Practice
At the heart of the project is our beloved mascot, Louloudenia, the Cat of Nea Artaki. Curious, observant, and always ready for a new adventure, she wanders through the town’s streets, listening to stories, discovering hidden treasures, and identifying places that need a little more care.
Louloudenia invites children and community members with a meaningful mission:
“Our town is full of light, beauty, and caring people. Yet there are still places that need a little more attention. Would you like to become Explorers of Light with me? Every mission we complete makes our neighbourhood more beautiful, more accessible, and more welcoming for everyone.”
Each activity became a small mission for the common good, contributing to the creation of a living Map of Light, highlighting the beauty, needs, accessibility, and shared responsibility within our community.
