The students of the Gymnasium of Zaloggo, participating in the European e-Twinning project “Biodiversity Guardians,” demonstrated their commitment to the environment through a series of impactful initiatives. Focusing on the beautiful Kanali beach, our students organized a significant clean-up effort, directly contributing to the preservation of this valuable natural area and its biodiversity.
During the beach clean-up, they engaged in discussions about the persistence of various types of waste in the environment, fostering a deeper understanding of the long-term consequences of pollution on delicate ecosystems and the wildlife that depends on them. This experience encouraged critical thinking about individual responsibility and the adoption of more sustainable practices.
Furthermore, our students extended their environmental efforts to the local community surrounding the school, conducting a clean-up of village areas. This initiative highlighted their dedication to maintaining a clean and healthy environment both within and beyond the school grounds.
In an exciting addition to their activities, the Gymnasium of Zaloggo also organized a successful clothes exchange event within the school. This initiative promoted the principles of reuse and waste reduction, offering students a practical way to give new life to unwanted clothing items and embrace sustainable consumption habits. The school further reinforced this commitment by establishing a clothing recycling program, providing a system for properly processing textiles that could no longer be used.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the students of the Gymnasium of Zaloggo for their proactive engagement, their sense of responsibility, and their collaborative spirit in making a tangible difference for our environment and community!
