Our amazing week of collaboration, learning, and unforgettable experiences with the students and teachers from Liceo Scientifico Statale “G. Berto” (Vibo Valentia, Italy) has come to an end!
As part of our eTwinning project “Biodiversity Guardians: Protecting Nature Together”, Italian and Greek students had the opportunity to work together, explore local biodiversity, and strengthen the bonds between our schools and cultures.
Scientific & Educational Activities
🔬 Exploring Environmental Protection through Science!
- In the Amvrakikos Gulf Water Analysis Lab, students from Vonitsa High School guided us through an analysis of the local water quality.
- In the Soap-Making Workshop, students learned how to create natural soaps, discovering traditional and sustainable techniques.
🦅 Environmental Activities in Amvrakikos
- Our visit to OFYPEKA and birdwatching in Amvrakikos Gulf were led by environmental expert Stratos Floudas, who provided valuable insights into the unique ecosystem of the region.
Cultural & Historical Exploration
🏛 Guided Tours Led by Local Students!
📍 In Preveza, students from 4th Gymnasium of Preveza guided our Italian guests through the city’s historical landmarks.
📍 In Ancient Kassopi, the tour was led by students from Gymnasium of Zalongo, sharing insights into the history of this ancient site.
🎭 Experiencing Greek Traditions
- Our Italian guests took part in the Tsiknopempti (Smoky Thursday) celebration, hosted by 4th Gymnasium of Preveza, where they enjoyed traditional dances in a special dance workshop.
Official Meeting with the Mayor of Preveza
📍 A highlight of the visit was the official meeting with the Mayor of Preveza, Mr. Nikolaos Georgakos, and the President of the Municipal Council, where the students and teachers were welcomed at the City Hall.
The Mayor emphasized the importance of international educational collaborations and the strong friendship between Greece and Italy, encouraging young people to engage in environmental and cultural exchange initiatives.
