every day I hear
enough to fill
a year of nights with wondering.
D.L.
Tresspassing in hoards of peeking moments behind the trees. Wet leaves rustling under the hidden sky, the thud of jogging feet keeping time with heartbeats. The crisp air, the sun over the umbrella of the trees, the waves of the sea in the distance! Zero one bits and distances crumble. Daveako’s music fills the room, the forest… Hey, remember BHS? ;-D

… is the ultimate sophistication.
Leonardo da Vinci
Spinning and twirling, suspended in limbo, cocooned, their shadows dancing on the buildings nearby. Un sue?o pasando una danza general… The rhythms of Brazil beating. And Leonardo breathing into the present, a few blocks away. Patras 2006, preview to the grand opening.
counting another year! Καλό ταξίδι, make every second worth the while!
You are already
asleep. I lower
myself in next to
you, my skin slightly
numb with the restraint
of habits, the patina of
self, the black frost
of outsideness, so that even
unclothed, it is
a resilient chilly
hardness, a superficially
malleable, dead
rubbery texture.
You are a mound
of bedclothes, where the cat
in sleep braces
its paws against your
calf through the blankets,
and kneads each paw in turn.
Meanwhile and slowly
I feel a is it
my own warmth surfacing or
the ferment of your whole
body that in darkness beneath
the cover is stealing
bit by bit to break
down that chill.
You turn and
hold me tightly, do
you know who
I am or am I
your mother or
the nearest human being to
hold on to in a
dreamed pogrom.
What I, now loosened,
sink into is an old
big place, it is
there already, for
you are already
there, and the cat
got there before you,
it is hard to locate.
What is more, the place is
not found but seeps
from our touch in
continuous creation, dark
enclosing cocoon round
ourselves alone, dark
wide realm where we
walk with everyone.

After having spent the past 2 weeks and hours on end in front of a cinema screen opening windows to a world, heimlich or unheimlich, structured or fragmented, it is hard to go back to the ordinary every day life. The curtain is down for the
8th Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People and we are already planning for the 9th!! The kids going about and thinking about what films they can make while we are still humming to the beat of the past 2 weeks, our feet still dancing to the music! Ωστόσο… glimpses into the different worlds, the different people, but still, people none the less, opened before our eyes have made us better individuals. And the taste of this remains till, a year from now, the curtain will rise again, and we’ll start breathing the fresh air of creation for yet once more. For a while, we stepped into other people’s lives, ordinary and extraordinary and emerged to the surface in the Aristotelian sense. Catharsis…
Ancient Olympia is once more bursting with activity, banners being put up all over town, since tomorrow is the lighting of the Olympic Torch for Torino 2006! The place is crawling with people, police making security runs, everything is very much alive! Well, the torrents of rain that keep pouring the last few days are a total drag, even though today we actually had sunshine all morning, so hopefully there will be at least a glimpse of the sun tomorrow at the ceremony, or it won’t be much fun, will it?
Anyway, it will be great to attend the ceremony once more! Never a boring sight!
It is about time I updated my
website, it has been quite a while now that experimenting and getting Joomla to work has taken up most of my practically non-existent free time!! It is pretty interesting to look for features that I want to incorporate and then, change and personalize the template’s interface. The school’s website comes next!
Of course, all this in the midst of eTwinning, applications for environmental projects, conferences, seminars, paper for a conference in Thessaloniki next October (houhounaki addicts beware, we are up and running!!!) plus the
8th Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People that is on in a few days time!!! This year, 2 of our students are entering for Camera Zizanio!!! So, good luck to Harris with his movie and Panaghiotis who is featured in it!!!
It’s on days like this that I wonder: how is it possible for people to get bored with all this going on? (I haven’t taken into account the average of 5-7 dvds that I get to watch on a weekly basis, plus hanging out and chatting with friends!!!!)
Well, just trying out my new 1G flash disk, playing with portable fx and all that jazz!!!! After spending all day long at a conference about distance learning, spending time browsing tech stuff (I’m on the lookout for a decent PDA, it was a drag trying to take notes with my old Visor -Nick, David, I’m still using that) and checking out laptops. Window shopping in Patras, coffee with friends, and…. well, I’m on line now, aren’t I???? ;-D
Amazing what a search for a Bresser weather station can lead to… One click away, the online weather in Tinos, two more clicks, my
old house! Talk about stepping back in time! It’s like hitting the back button in fx and there we are, music streaming out of the open windows, the kids playing and laughing outside, and inside, us on the old couch, dreaming of what is now the past! Click, click, the town narrow streets, only now in sunlight, where we followed Hale-Bopp’s trail into the skies. Click, the patter of feet on the cobblestones, click, the smell of jasmine, my future old house, click, trivial pursuit, click,… And the clickerati go on!!!!!
