Χαλοουίν – Halloween

Με αφορμή του μαθήματος στην Αγγλική γλώσσα και την κολοκύθα που ήταν στολισμένη στη γωνιά της φύσης, αποφασίσαμε  με την συνάδελφο των Αγγλικών  να ασχοληθούμε με το θέμα της γιορτής του Halloween!

Η κύρια Ελένη των αγγλικών τους μίλησε  για τα  παιδιά που ζουν σε άλλες χώρες και που κάνουν μια γιορτή διαφορετική  το Halloween! Ενός αρχαίου Κέλτικου εθίμου κατά το οποίο εορταζόταν το τέλος του καλοκαιριού και ταυτόχρονα η έναρξη του χειμώνα. Η ονομασία Halloween προέρχεται από το “All-hallow-even” που δηλώνει την παραμονή της γιορτής των Αγίων Πάντων. Στην Αμερική, η γιορτή ήρθε μέσω των Ιρλανδών και των Σκοτσέζων μεταναστών τον 19ο αιώνα.

Αφού λοιπόν σε όλες σχεδόν τις αγγλόφωνες χώρες γιορτάζεται το Halloween, έτσι κι εμείς στο νηπιαγωγείο μας  μαθαίνοντας  και αγγλικά, ενημερωθήκαμε για τις παραδόσεις και έθιμα και των αγγλόφωνων χωρών. Με αυτόν τον τρόπο τα παιδιά εξοικειώνονται ακόμη περισσότερο με την αγγλική γλώσσα, διασκεδάζουν παίζοντας ομαδικά παιχνίδια, κάνοντας φάρσες, τραγουδώντας και χορεύοντας.
Φυσικά, όλα αυτά μόνο στα αγγλικά!

On 31st of October Halloween is celebrated in the United Kingdom as well as in other parts of the world. As you all know, this year, we have an English teacher in our team and we decided to talk about this popular celebration with our little students to familiarize them with the English traditions! So, Halloween came to our nursery school!

We decorated our classroom with a real pumpkin and talked about Halloween, an old Celtic tradition which marked the end of the summer and the beginning of the dark, cold winter. Celts believed that on the night before the New Year, the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. For this reason, they used to dress up to scare the spirits away. In the USA, this celebration started when Irish and Scottish immigrants travelled there during the 19^th century.

We learned a lot about it and kids had fun playing group games, playing tricks, singing and dancing!

And let’s not forget that all of these is done in English!
