
Shakespeare (23rd April 1564 – 23rd April 1616) was an English poet, playwright, actor, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world’s greatest dramatist. At least 38 plays, 150 sonnets, narrative poems have been attributed to him, and his plays have been translated into more than 50 languages. Today he continues to be celebrated for his psychologically complex characters and timeless insights into the human condition. He wrote immortal scenes which reflect human nature timelessly. Four centuries later, his plays still have the power to transform people’s lives. He wrote about love, death, joy grief, jealousy, hatred, which affect the course of our actions in any aspect of our existence.
His contemporary Ben Jonson says it best with his famous phrase:
“He was not of an age, but for all time”.
