THE HISTORY OF AVIATION

The history of aviation began thousands of years ago with people dreaming of flying by watching birds. Early legends and drawings show humans trying to use wings made of feathers or wood. Real progress started in the 18th century, when the Montgolfier brothers in France built the first hot-air balloon in 1783. It was the first time people could rise into the sky.

A big change came in 1903, when the Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur, made the first successful powered flight in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Their airplane flew for just 12 seconds, but it proved that controlled flight was possible.

During the 20th century, airplanes developed quickly. They became faster, safer and made long-distance travel possible. In World War I and II, aviation technology improved even more.

Today, aviation connects the whole world. From early balloons to modern jets, the history of flight shows human creativity and the desire to explore the skies.
