Autumn is here, and the smell of Riachuelo,  was a giveaway for La Boca.

The new bridge, a homage to the huge skeleton of the old one.

Small boats, docked under it.

Quinquela’s hospital for children..

… right next to…

…his museum and house….

…and school…

Quinquela’s kitchen…

View from Quinquela’s terrace, to La Boca.

Characteristic houses of La Boca.

The Caminito from Quinquela’s roof.

Sculptures on the roof of Quinquela’s house, which gives the impression of being on a ship…

The Creator….

Ok, I´ll have two!! ;-P

La Boca…

The colours, amazing…

So capturing the eye…

The place, very popular among tourists..

….and the bright colours show off the grim history of it…

Ibìs!!!! Rival!!! ;-P

Though a cloudy day, tourists came and went..

Small details in the side streets…

That got to be grimmer and grimmer…

… making you think about the…

… great gaps among the haves and the have nots!!

Oh, by the way, the subway, is a portal to Japan, apparently?

;-P

Yeap…ok, we got it… Japanese… ;-PPP

And needless to comment on the size of steaks…

A feat, well accomplished!! DONE IT!!! ;-P

Oh, and by the way…..  Hobbit doors?

Winter is coming……

Puerto Madero……

Buquebus….

Waiting in the, oh, so, not-used-to-this-kind-of-port facilities, and then… (Rafina, and Highspeed, my “$%$%”$%&/%$&/%&%!…..)

URUGUAY, BABY!!! ;-PPPP

Colonia del Sacramento…. Absolutely beautiful…

The oldest town in Uruguay, and one of the most relaxed and picturesque places I’ve seen….

These streets, really got to me…

The beach, of Rio de la Plata (a RIVER? I mean  I still find it hard to believe that there’s no other bank in the horizon…) and on the other side of the road, summer houses and villas.

Aptly so!!!;-P

The Plaza de toros Real de San Carlos, a very impressive bull ring that has been in operation for only a brief time.

And done in a moorish style, no less!!

And now, to derelict to use, still really impressive.

And of course, the Barrio Histórico, where the Portuguese and Spanish fight for domnance over the city is very apparent.

The tranquil look of the place does not really convey now the  years of changing of hands of the place between  the Portuguese and  the Spanish.

It is designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The drawbdidge and moat leading into the  castle.

A regular tourist attraction, since over half of the population of Colonia de Sacramento, live of tourism.

A portuguese styled street, the oldest road in town.

Yeap… wars….

This seems familiar….

The Lighthouse.

Typical cobbled street, Spanish style.

Serenity…

Oh, yeah, they are about!!!! Fully functional and amazing to look at!!

And serviceable too!!! Multifunctional car… ;-P

(Hmmmm….. there are more….??? )

Climbing up the stairs to the lighthouse…

And the spectacular view from the top…..

Yeap… up…

And up…

And up…

The catholic experience!

;-D

Walking in the city, just admiring, every second building, an architectural delight.

As if, diving into the not so far away past, of European capitals, but with the temperament of the Latin spirit, in every corner.

The historical past of the country, almost a step back from our own present…

And the people, always happy to talk with you about what delicacies they  enjoyed in your country, and what you’re enjoying in theirs!:-)

…sharing a small part of their past along the way…

… making links between worlds apart…

… that nurture new sensibilities and newly found points of view…

Long gone worlds, that unfold through pictures and objects….

…in a seamless link of days gone and present..

…trotting along…

… the small courtesies of people…

… who open windows for a better view…

… buenas tardes…. kalispera…. baklava… empanadas….

So, let yourself fly…

…and always remember.

🙂

The mines of Wanda, extremely spectacular..

At a distance of a couple of kilometres from the main road, a very nice walk (if you shoose to not take a taxi there) which will allow you to pass through the houses of the people living around the mines, and offer you a chance to be accosted by innumerable little kids selling stones and little stone trees!!!! The real kind of kids, the ones that walk barefeet and play in the dirt!!! Though, this  also makes you wonder, about children’s rights, and living conditions as well…

The mines are still operational…

Geodes are simply, everywhere….

… and soooo beautiful….

Inside the tunnels…

As well as outside….

You can have a guided tour, the guides are very helpful!!

Aha!!!!! Hm…. I’m sooo not going to comment on that!!! ;-P

Geodes….

The workshop, where big rocks are cut…

!!!!!

I want them ALL…

My precious…. ;-P

Ok, I can have that one too!!

;-D

Aaaaand…. IGUAZU, BABY!!!

The Argentinian side of the cataracts, everything is very accessible, though it took us about 6-7 hours to do it all at an easy pace (including the boat trip, hehehhee)!

La Garganta del Diablo!! And, no, neither camera or Sophia are waterproof!!! Totally soaked through, totally loved it! ;-P

Hey, coati!!!

Misty shower from the cataracts, and rainbow!!

Oh, I can so get used to this kind of beauty, and force of nature!!!

Ehm…. most certainly NOT allowed todo that!!! ;-P (hehhehehehehe)

Yo, hey, guys, ehm… you know there’re some cataracts around here? Pretty massive ones? ;-P

(Famous last words: oh, what a niiiice river… hey, what´s that noise?)

Walking, walking, walking…..

…over the river, the way to the Devil´s Throat!

Butterflies (and other more annoying and less spectacular insects) simply everywhere!

Jacuzzi, baby!!! Though, too strong I’m guessing!!

Aaaaaand, BRAZIL, BABY!!!!

(Yeap.. we did the dolby surround of the cataracts, totally worth it, even though the Brazilian national park is rather more commercialized and less natural than the Argentinian one, it is an absolute must, cause you get to see the Argentinian cataracts in full view!!!

Bus..

Aha… owner!

So, worth going there too!!! Second day of cataract showers, but hey, what are swimsuits for? ;-P

Cataracts, and then..

…more of them….

…and the small dock for the boat trip that takes you under the spray, on  both sides of the island, in the speedboats, also tooootally worth it, and a unique experience!! Be prepared to get soaked to the bone (to the swimsuit, rather, hehehe).

Catwalks with a view!!!

The Argentinian side, from Brazil.

The Brazilian boat trip, on the other side of La Garganta del Diablo. Just look at  the spray… Wowwww….

Yep…

The Brazilian catwalk that takes you to get super soaking wet..

Been there!!!!!!!!!! Done that!!! (Wanna do it again, though!! ;-P)

An elevator takes you from the top to the bottom, if you are us, who totally went the other way round than everybody, else, and loved it!!! ;-P

Waaateeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrr!!!

Hard to believe that we went into that spray by boat the day before!! (Yeap… got the video to prove it!! ;-P)

Pretty impressive…

Waterfalls, over waterfalls, and so on…

Aw…. watching it from the other side!!

And hey, and you would think all that water wouldn’t make you thirsty….. but, no, so, coconut water!!!

The obelisk, in Buenos Aires, and wiiiiiiide avenues….

Hehehehhehehe…. yeap… we’re here! ;-P

The city is full of simply amazing buildings, amazing cupolas, architecture at its best (ok, and worst, I’m guessing, with all the tall THIN buildings….A european look, absolutely impressive…

Jewels of the past, waiting to be restored..

Corrientes!!!!! (Really… Buildings this thin ?) ;-P

Orchestra in the parks, though open access is limited by fences in practically all of them.

Seriously?

The murals at Flores station, on the way  to Feria de Mataderos! And a view to another part of the city.

¡Hola!

Ehm…. the absolutely right country for grilled meat!!! Arribaaaaaa!!!

Fair!!!!!! Not fair though, that not all of the people were there… So, raincheck, for next Sunday!!!

Oh, well, lots of truth in both statements..

Ok, you can buy me property here… I sooo dig the place! (Well, who wouldn’t? )

The corbeta Uruguay, used in the exploration of Antarctica, an absolute beauty of a ship!

Oh, Calatrava… who would have guessed!! ;-P

The bridge, an absolute beauty!!!
