The schoolyard, about 6 different grills (one, a professional size…) and all the kids and grown ups grilling!!

Εντάξει, δεν φάγαμε πολύ, μόνο αυτά της φωτό επί 6, συν κάτι λουκάνικα, συν κάτι κοτόπουλα που ήρθαν με delivery από τα καταπληκτικά γειτονικά κοτοπουλοταβερνεία, (έχουμε τρομερούς μαθητές με τρομερές διασυνδέσεις…) συν κάτι ταψιά με πατάτες που σκάσανε από τα γειτονικά σπίτια, κάτι πίτες, κάτι μηλόπιτες και δεν συμμαζεύεται!!! Και επειδή ο άνθρωπος πρέπει να τρώει κανονικά, το βράδυ το μενού είχε γουρουνοπούλα και παϊδάκια με τους φίλους αυτή τη φορά μέχρι σχεδόν πρωίας (ο ταβερνιάρης κοιμήθηκε στην καρέκλα όσο εμείς λύσαμε όλα τα θέματα της επικαιρότητας and then some more)!!

Και σήμερα, μικρό σερφάρισμα στο internet (είπα ζήτω το moodle? To joomla??) και μετά, ένα μεγάλο στις γειτονικές πρωτεύουσες, μιας και το Fabia ξεκινάει το μενού του από Πάτρα και τρελές διαδρομές στον εξωτικό νότο!!!
Ζήτω οι παραλίες!!! Ζήτω οι χωματόδρομοι!!!!

A whole, fantastic weekend spent at the University of Patras, full of renewable energy sources, hybrid cars, solar energy, G.I.S. labs, atmospheric physics, meteorology, biology, all in a city full of light, laughter, people, everything so absolutely excellent and exhilarating!!
Life is really good!

Well, when you’re absolutely stuck with trying to guess what’s wrong with your xampp installation and it does not really work, and Joomla sort of buffles you when you try to work out about three versions of it all at the same time, and all this while playing with Moodle, (hey, and not to mention Kallisto, the environmental classes programme) then it’s time for your friends to kidnap you for a destination casually mentioned when you’ve already crossed the borders for Arkadia and Ladonas’ dam!

Destination No. 1, the monastery of Klivokas, which hangs on the side of a rocky mountain, and where the sight of the lift will leave you speechless.. (as will the stairs, mind you!)

The monastery is famous for a cave that runs well into the rock, an absolutely amazing place, which you can’t visit if you’re claustrophobic, really tall or don’t like crawling.. (plus, if you’re afraid of the dark cause your friends will most definitely kill the lights while you’re inside and you’ll just be left in the dark!!).

I absolutely loved it (if you’re interested in the story of the icon and suchlike, well, there’s a book available) since spelunking has always been a wild dream for me, and if we weren’t short for time, there was ample crawling to be done at what seemed the far end of the cave…

The view is absolutely breathtaking, and the old nun that is left to take care of the monastery, very sweet (if you don’t mind the third degree questioning…), if you plan to visit, be kind enough to bring her something in the area of supplies.

Next drill, a 4X4 wheel drive through the gorge, speeding through waterholes and really rough roads next to Ladonas, one of the best places that I’ve ever been to, and all ending in Dimitra, a fantastic village (did I mention the rreeeeeeaaaaaallly narrow streets?) and, of course, we got stuck there with the good wine and the steaks next to the fire….)

So, now, come on Joomla, give me your best, I’m all for it after the great drive (and the aching muscles from the laughter…)

And a day that starts like that, can only end 100 kilometres away, where the square is full of people, the shops’ windows are always bright and inviting, where no job ever gets done, (θέλω κινέζικο, και το θέλω, _τώρα_ και το σουφλέ σοκολάτα, φοντύ σοκολάτα…) and where Calvin hates mornings!!

You know you’re doing something right, when the rest of your country is involved in lamenting, funerals, scandals, endless debates about dark dealings, and what you do, is turn off the TV and go out and support communication, life and the future. So, here in Olympia, we started our day with meeting once again with a school delegation from China! Students from a variety of schools in Beijing, met with a small group of our students, and talked about Life, the Universe and Everything!

We all had a great time, the kids especially who got small mementos from their Chinese peers, and got to know, even for a short time, another culture and its ways.

But this is not all, busy days, busier nights all around!!! The weekend spent in Patras, at a seminar about Environmental Education by the National Technical University of Greece, which frankly, seriously lacked in organisation. Several of the papers were absolutely fantastic but overall, for something that was being planned such a long time, it didn’t live up to any expectations!! We had a great time though and are ready for the next phase in February!!!!

Monday morning spent in yet another seminar, at the Information Center of Strofylia – Kotychi, about an educational package, a very good presentation of the area with great worksheets for schools to work on. We definitely plan to get that, and if you are a teacher, consider working with this material in your school!!

And from then on, straight on (ok, with a short but great break) to a seminar on Moodle, with a fantastic group (yo, guys, seriously, we should stop having such laughs always, people are getting jealous, hehehe, μας έχουνε καταματιάσει αν δεν το έχετε πάρει είδηση), and under great teaching, of course!!

And the minutes continue to tick by, over cups of coffee with great talks, tsipoura with barboutseli by the sea, reforesting a part of our area tomorrow, long, lazy walks by the sea, a little bit of Moodle, the cameras clicking on to happy moments, smiles frozen in time and warm hugs, the smell of home cooked food, the Fabia all ready to devour the kilometers between the nearby capitals two days in succession, all in all, our life, mostly harmless!

Μιας και ο καινούριος χρόνος μπήκε μαζί με το καινούριο βιβλίο του καταπληκτικού φίλου Νικόλα, (Daskalos for ever and ever and ever ;-D !!!!!) με τον οποίο, καθώς και άλλους συνεργούς στο έγκλημα, έχουμε γεμίσει την τελευταία δεκαετία με γέλια, συνεργασίες, βόλτες, τσιμπούσια, γέλια, γέλια, γέλια και πολύ πολύ κέφι, βρήκαμε (ακόμα) μια αφορμή, για να γεμίσουμε τις βιβλιοθήκες των φίλων (εχμ… και το πιάτο μας??)!!!

Το Λεξικό της Αργκό, των Νικόλα Μακροδήμου (κατά συρροήν εκδιδόμενος τώρα τελευταία, χοχοχο) και Χρήστου Ακριτίδη, συνοδευόταν από το φλουρί της βασιλόπιτας της χτεσινής δόσης κολλητών!!! Και επειδή, κανένα κοσμοϊστορικό γεγονός δεν μπορεί να συνοδεύεται μόνο από μια βασιλόπιτα, το στολίσαμε με το καταπληκτικό κρασί των άλλων κολλητών από τον Βορρά, και ένα μικρό τσιμπούσι, (σαν το χωριό των Γαλατών, χωρίς τα αγριογούρουνα και τις κοτσίδες στο μαλλί…)!!! Φάγαμε, (το τραπέζι του αρραβώνα που λέει και ο κουμπάρος ο ζηλιάρης που είναι μακριά και δεν του αναλογεί πιάτο, χεχεχε), ξαναφάγαμε, ήπιαμε, τσακίσαμε μια τάρτα σοκολάτα (Στέλλα, Στέλλα, ούτε να αναπνεύσει πρόφτασε η τάρτα, πάλι!!!!) και διάφορα γλυκά του κουταλιού (της σούπας…) ιδίας παραγωγής!!!
Η υπόσχεση να στείλουμε φωτό από τα συμβάντα και τα εδέσματα καθώς και τάπερ με κούριερ στους υπόλοιπους κολλητούς που ήταν πολύ μακριά για να παραβρεθούν, ας θεωρηθεί άκυρη, καθόσον έμεινε μόνο ψωμί (λίγο από το κάθε είδος) και πιλάφι! Χοχοχο!! Next time guys!!! Η μόνη φωτό, είναι από τα μπισκοτάκια του πρωινού καφέ, τα οποία, παρακαλώ, γίναν με muesli καθόσον ο !@#$@#$%@#$$!@# ΑΒ της γειτονιάς, δεν είχε νιφάδες βρώμης σκέτες!!! Αλλά, πτοούμαστε εμείς??? ;-D

Ανιψιός: – Άμα ακούσει κάτι η μαμά από το πιάνο, θα της πω “εμείς τα παιδάκια, ο Δημήτρης και η Χριστιάννα, παίζουμε πιάνο!! Παίζουμε τζαζ!!”
Ανιψιά: -Γιαγ, γιαγ, ΓΙΑΓ (τζαζ), βάβοοοοοο, βάβοοοοοο (μπράβο).
Θεία: -Α, τζαζ, και έλεγα κι εγώ!!(και τα νεύρα μου τέτοια παίζουν αυτή τη στιγμή, αν και, ζήτω το πεντάλ που χαμηλώνει την ένταση, χοχοχο, άσε που “άμα ακούσει κάτι η μαμά από το πιάνο” το βλέπω να γίνεται ιπτάμενο από το παράθυρο, χιχιχι!!!!!)

Ανιψιός: -Κοίτα, θεία, παίζουμε μουσική με τη μύτη μας!! (Ώπα, άλλοι 2 υποψήφιοι για τον Σύλλογο Μυταράδων!!!!)

– Θεία, παίζουμε και με το μέτωπο!!! Παίζουμε τζαζ!! (Έχουμε κούτελο στην οικογένεια,όχι αστεία, χοχοχο!!)
