September’s newsletter
This month’s main goals were to help our kindergarteners to adjust to their new environment, adapt to their new routines and make connections with the rest of the group.
The first two weeks of September were full of free play indoors & outdoors, child-led activities, action songs, bonding and cooperation games and ‘’all about them’’ conversations so they could get to know each other. Some of the games they asked to play again and again were ‘’the baby bear game’’, ‘’what’s the time Mr. Wolf’’, ‘’pass the music ball’’, ‘’who is missing?’’ and ‘’copy the move’’.
In order to build our group’s confidence, we encouraged them to talk more about their needs, their ideas and their emotions. Having that in mind we decided to start working on how we can recognize different feelings, how we can express them and how we can regulate the negative emotions. In order to achieve that we played feelings charades, we had emotions matching games & loose parts play, we practiced breathing exercises, we learned new yoga poses and we read many stories about feelings.

Due to the earthquakes and the natural disasters, the last week of September we tried to bring awareness on concepts like solidarity & voluntarism.
We encourage parents & kids to help our fellow citizens. We managed to collect supplies, we made arts & crafts and we wrote supportive messages to the people in need.
We also learned useful practices in order to reduce our stress in similar situations, like the calm down bottle & the survival bag.
