  • New services provided by Esperino Geniko Lykeio Ioanninon

During emergency situations such as a pandemic, the implementation of distance learning becomes essential in order to ensure the continuity of the educational process. In such circumstances, schools are required to organize and provide a wide range of digital services that support communication, teaching, collaboration, and student participation. These conditions demand special procedures, careful coordination, digital readiness, and the effective use of educational technologies by teachers, students, and parents alike. The Esperino Geniko Lykeio Ioanninon has developed an integrated framework of digital educational services designed to support remote teaching and learning in emergency conditions. The school emphasizes the importance of digital literacy and technological preparedness, recognizing that successful participation in online education requires both technical knowledge and responsible digital behavior. According to the school’s educational technology guide, students are encouraged to develop essential digital skills such as internet navigation, file management, email communication, online collaboration, and participation in virtual classrooms through platforms including Webex, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and e-class. In addition, the school provides access to digital educational resources and interactive learning environments that facilitate asynchronous and synchronous learning. Students are trained to use digital repositories, interactive school textbooks, cloud-based collaboration tools such as Google Drive, and educational platforms that allow the submission of assignments, participation in online assessments, and communication with teachers. The use of the e-class platform supports the organization of educational material, homework distribution, grading procedures, and online examinations. The school also promotes responsible digital citizenship and well-being by offering guidance on time management, online behavior, communication etiquette (netiquette), and safe internet practices. Special attention is given to inclusion and equal access to education, ensuring that all students can continue their studies regardless of social or professional obligations. This is particularly important for adult learners attending evening schools, many of whom combine education with work and family responsibilities. Furthermore, the strategic vision of the school includes the continuous integration of digital technologies into teaching practices. The institution actively supports innovation, teacher training, and participation in national and European educational initiatives that strengthen digital competencies and modern pedagogical approaches. Through these actions, the school seeks to maintain an effective, supportive, and flexible educational environment even under extraordinary circumstances such as public health crises. • Isaac Peral team visits Esperino Geniko Lykeio Ioanninon

The Esperino Geniko Lykeio Ioanninon proudly welcomed (from 10 to 15 December 2025) five students and two teachers from IES Isaac Peral Cartagena as part of an Erasmus+ mobility programme focused on adult education, intercultural exchange, and the development of key European competences for lifelong learning. The mobility programme provided participants with the opportunity to experience everyday school life in Greece, attend classes, collaborate with students and teachers of the host institution, and actively engage in educational and cultural activities. Through their participation, the visiting students strengthened their communication, social, and digital skills while developing a deeper understanding of European citizenship and intercultural cooperation. One of the central aims of the mobility was the enhancement of multilingual competence. English served as the main language of communication, while participants were also introduced to basic elements of the Greek language and culture. Students improved their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills through everyday interaction, classroom participation, presentations, and collaborative activities. They also explored topics related to history, diversity, literature, and local traditions of both countries. The programme also placed strong emphasis on the development of digital competence. Students participated daily in lessons and educational activities while using digital technologies responsibly and effectively for learning, communication, and collaboration. They created audiovisual material, travel diaries, digital presentations, and online publications documenting their experiences during the mobility. Another important objective concerned the development of personal, social, and learning-to-learn competences. By adapting to a new educational and cultural environment, students became more independent, strengthened their problem-solving abilities, improved time-management skills, and developed meaningful international friendships. Participation in school activities and interaction with the local community encouraged active engagement and self-confidence. The mobility further promoted citizenship competence and a stronger sense of belonging to the European Union. Through everyday school life, collaborative projects, and intercultural dialogue, participants experienced the practical meaning of European cooperation, solidarity, and democratic participation. An equally significant dimension of the programme was the enhancement of cultural awareness and expression competence. Students explored Greek culture, traditions, cuisine, local history, and historical sites while comparing similarities and differences between the Greek and Spanish educational systems and lifestyles. Their experiences were documented through travel books, postcards, photographs, and social media publications prepared during and after the mobility. Throughout the mobility, mentors and Erasmus coordinators from both institutions closely monitored and supported the participants, ensuring their smooth integration into school life and helping them achieve the expected learning outcomes. Reflection activities, dissemination sessions, and evaluation procedures further contributed to the educational value of the experience. The Erasmus+ collaboration between IES Isaac Peral Cartagena and Esperino Geniko Lykeio Ioanninon highlighted the importance of international mobility in fostering inclusion, lifelong learning, intercultural understanding, and active European citizenship.
