Esperino Geniko Lykeio Ioanninon (Evening High School of Ioannina) is a public sector, non-profit, evening upper secondary education school, located in the city of Ioannina and it is the only evening upper secondary education school in the whole prefecture of Ioannina. Our school offers its students a 4th level Hellenic Qualification Framework (HQF) and 4th level of EQF certificate.
The school year 2023-2024, the school has 73 students aged from 15 to 71 y.o. and employs 14 permanent teachers.
Most of our student are from low socio-economic backgrounds and many of them come from mountainous and isolated areas of the Ioannina region. Our students are working or they are unemployed who try to enhance their professional profile and find a better job or to consolidate the position they already have. Others, try to obtain an upper secondary education certificate and others to fulfil a dream by entering a higher education institute (HEI).
All the teachers in Esperino Geniko Lykeio Ioanninon, hold a university degree. Four (04) of them also hold a Master’s degree and one (01) holds a second university degree. Most of the teachers can communicate in English. Two teachers speak two languages the first (English & French) and the latter (French & Spanish).
Our goal is to pave the way for new horizons. Not only horizons of knowledge, but also social, emotional, cultural and professional horizons. We try to offer new images of the world we live in, create a school environment where new acquaintances and friendships can evolve but also provide opportunities for professional reorientation as well as access to higher education on favourable terms.
At the same time, we create the conditions for people who are different from each other to join a group with a spirit of acceptance and understanding. Social skills, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills are thus developed. By giving our pupils the opportunity to take the initiative, we aim to develop organisational skills as well as skills of extroversion and cooperation. Presenting events, carrying out projects, collaborating with groups and institutions in the city, excursions and visits are the educational tools we use to achieve our pedagogical objectives.
