Talking about habits in the past
I used to + infinitive shows an action that we did in the past but we don’t do it now e.g. I used to watch cartoons when I was younger (but now I don’t). In the question and negative form we use the simple past auxiliary verb did e.g. Did you use to watch cartoons when you were younger? I didn’t use to watch cartoons.
Watch the Coca Cola commercial about grandpa living a healthy lifestyle. What did grandpa use to do and what does the grandson do now? Example: Grandpa used to have breakfast quietly but his grandson has breakfast quickly.
