You can take a virtual tour of the National gallery of London or explore the world’s largest collection of works by Vincent van Gogh at  the Van Gogh museum  in Amsterdam.

Working with art in a classroom can help us broaden our horizons, enhance our critical thinking skills,  develop our imagination and creativity.  Did you know that  paintings … can talk?

The 6th grade pupils were asked to write descriptions of the people in the paintings, compare the portraits, write self-poems and imaginary dialogues or short stories. This way they learnt vocabulary related to physical descriptions as well as different types of comparisons and the simple past.

Fatty Patty Problem is the story written by the pupils of E1 and The Dangerous Cake is written by the pupils of E2 based on the characters from the paintings we worked on in class.

We spent two wonderful hours with Ms Glykeria Grekou, colleague and writer, who talked to the pupils about writing, creating their own stories, using their experiences and expressing their feelings. Using something as simple as sugar she showed how we can all get inspired by simple everyday things. Thank you very much, Glykeria!
