Welcome back to storytelling!
This year we started our project on 31st October – on the day and … night of Halloween! It was only natural that we chose to read about the most famous witch in the English literature : Winnie the witch by Valerie Thomas & Korky Paul. Two of her books were read in class Winnie the Witch and Winnie Flies Again.
The fifth grade made invitations for Winnie’s Halloween party. Click on the pictures to see!
They made their own magic potions and magic spells, drew their own Wilbur and sent a postcard to Felix the cat, a friend of Wilbur, explaining their problems and a storyboard adding the dialogues.
Winnie the witch gave us the opportunity to work on the vocabulary about feelings …. e.g. Winnie feels angry when she can’t see Wilbur. Wilbur feels miserable when he is colourful. Winnie feels surprised when she sees Wilbur on her bed.
The sixth grade learnt means of transport, worked on haunted houses and scary stories, poems and advertisements.
Pupils were given key words related to Halloween( Halloween, baby bat, pumpkin, mummy, witch, magic wand) and used them to write a short story.
Characters from different fairytales fall in love with one another e.g. the hunter and Little Red Riding Hood, the wizard of Oz and Winnie the witch, Shrek and Princess Fiona, Rapunzel and a little dwarf, Cinderella and the frog prince .So we used verbs of senses to write love poems.
A pupil from the 4th grade made a fantastic booklet with a Halloween story . Great work, Thanos!
