17^th of November is a Remembrance Day of the Storming of the Polytechnic, which took place 35 years ago. It happened towards the end of the dictatorship

The students of the Polytechnic School in Athens barricaded themselves in the school as an act of protest against the military junta. They demanded food, education and freedom. The police and troops surrounded the building .Force came in the form of a tank which crashed the wrought iron gates. 

The students of the Polytechnic rocked the foundations of the dictatorship which was to fall the following summer.
