Τι κάνει τα παιδιά να αισθάνονται καλά, ασφαλή και χαρούμενα στο σχολείο.

9. Επόμενη δραστηριότητα είναι να πάρουμε την γνώμη των μαθητών σχετικά με το τι τους κάνει να αισθάνονται καλά, ασφαλείς και χαρούμενοι στο σχολείο.

Τα παιδιά έγραψαν σε χρωματιστά χαρτάκια τι τους κάνει να αισθάνονται χαρούμενοι στο σχολείο. Τα χαρτάκια τα κόλλησαν γύρω από έναν “Λευκό Πύργο”, το σύμβολο της Θεσσαλονίκης, που όμως είχαν χρωματίσει για να γίνει πιο όμορφος.

ΤΟ ΝΕΡΟ και η εξοικονόμησή του.

March 22^nd is the World Day of Water, so the activities of March were about water and how to save it.

First we watched  a presentation in class, about the importance of water and some tips on what to do in order to save water.

Then we discussed our everyday habits and the pupils decided to talk about saving water with their parents the same day!

Then we created the problem. We watched a presentation about it.

Let’s assume that we have made a garden, we have planted the flowers, we have watered them and then one day there is no more water because of damage in a water pipe.

What can we do?

We need a long-term solution.

After brainstorming a pupil came up with the idea of collecting rainwater.

But rainwater is full of leaves and dirt and this can clog the pipes.

So we understood that we would have to clean rainwater and then keep it in a tank and use it to water our plants whenever needed.

Then, we watched 2 videos about the construction of water filters for rainwater.

We decided to make the filter from the video below.

We decided to make the filter which used rocks, sand, and cotton in 3 different plastic cups.

We made it and we tested it, but it was not successful.

We hadn’t thought that the sand would clog the straw, and when this happened the water stopped.

Furthermore, the junctions were leaking and finally all of the water was lost.

So we understood that we needed some kind of net after the sand and a solution to the leakage problem.

We thought and tested other materials for connecting the plastic cups, but they were not successful.

Finally we thought of using gravity and vertical arrangement of the cups.

For net, under the sand, we used a yellow piece of fabric with sparse knitting.

We made the filter using plastic bowls and caps for coffee.

We made holes on the bottom of each bowl exactly where the cap had the hole for the straw, so there was no leakage.

We tested the water filter and this time it was successful!!!

We poured very dirty water in our filter and the outcome was transparent!

We demonstrated the function of our filter to other classes and they were amazed by the clarity of the filtered water.

Besides learning about water and filters we learned another valuable lesson.

IF YOU FAIL ONCE, KEEP TRYING AND YOU WILL SUCEED.

NEVER QUIT!!!
