One of the pedagogic objectives of the project “We, the Kids of the EU, believe…” is increasing the level of awareness on Human Rights, Children’s Rights, eliminating discrimination and enhancing tolerance. This is why this year the Erasmus+ students’ and teachers’ team decided to organize a different celebration of the 28th of October, the National Day of Greece. Apart from the historic information we decided to present to our school an adapted version of the book “The boy in the striped pyzamas”. According to the plot
pupils presented the roles of two children during the German Occuppation. The friendship of two boys with different backgrounds (German and Jewish one) can actually demolish the “barbed wire” of fascism, war and the Other in persecution.
The event took place on the 27th of October 2017 (Friday) at our school. Students, teachers and parents had the chance to watch an adapted version of the book “The boy in the striped pyzamas”. According to their comments in the end of this event there were many students and teachers who got motivated to read the book or see the movie (“The boy in the striped pyzamas”) in order to learn and “feel” more about The Holocaust (and thus elimination of discrimination), a thematic of our Erasmus+ project.
