«OUR EUROPEAN KINDNESS TREE»
For students of all grades of Secondary, Elementary School and Kindergarden
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The purpose of this action is to celebrate and encourage kind and helpful acts during school time and to eliminate bullying. Every day students are taught that treating people with kindness is very important, but sometimes it is easy for them to forget what they can do to be kind to others.
In particular, the point is to find a beautiful, creative and easy way for students to express and visualize a variety of ways they can be kind. They are invited to brainstorm all the different ways they can show kindness. Then, they will create the class’ kind tree, to show all the possible ways they can be kind to others. This activity can be conducted all year long. The tree leaves can become kind deeds written on paper hearts, paper leaves, paper flowers or anything the imagination of the participants can create. The more different our kindness trees the better. This action is going to be posted on the blog of our school, where a visitor can also see it (https://blogs.sch.gr/38dimlar/ilektronikos-toichos-padlet/). The participation of all students in the class is not mandatory, but optional.
Also, all students participate in the brainstorming sessions, to comment and praise the good deeds that are presented. During the implementation of the action, emphasis will be placed on the students’ self-action, in order to satisfy their need to act and create, while the teacher keeps a secondary, coordinating role.
