Second Primary School of Kissamos
History of the School from 1953 to 1995
The Second Primary School of Kissamos was founded and operated for first time in 1953. The first Director of school was Mr. Dimitrios Koufogiannakis. He served thie position of responsibility from 1954 to 1955. Firstly, the school was housed in three “crumbling” rooms of the First High School of Kissamos and it was operated as a Three-Teachers’ school until the year of 1960. It was relocated to the house of Mr. Emmanuel I. Rodousakis from 1960 to 1964. This house was next to the building facilities of the Holy Metropolis of Kissamos and Selino. Τhe construction of the first school building was completed with three classrooms in 1965. This building is in the location of the existing school today. About 140 students were attended per year in the first two years of the school’s operation, 1953-1954 and 1954-1955. From then on, the number of students was constantly increasing. The school was promoted from Three-Teachers’ school to Five-Teachers’ school in the school year 1978-1979. Three additional classrooms were leased in the Holy Metropolis of Kissamos and Selinos on September 21st in 1979. It was promoted to Six-Teachers’ school the following school year.
Τhe school operated as an experimental school for the implementation of the new programs (S.D.E.N.P.) with teachers of specialties (such as teachers of Physical Education and English) according to Law 1566/85 from the school year 1987-1988.
The inauguration of the current building took place on January 30th in 1995, which was founded from the beginning due to space constraints and the unsuitability of the previous buildings.
