We thought about to celebrate the beginning of the Carnival with a very sweet tasting: COTTON CANDY for everyone!!!
A local confectionery lent us the cotton candy machine and so we made it together!!! Sweet taste in our garden!!!
On Thursday 21rst of February 2019 we went together with our students by city line bus to the Art Gallery of our town – Galleria d’Arte Moderna – where they participated in an educational workshop about light and shadow! All the experience … the transfer, the visit in the art gallery and the workshop … was fascinating for all!
It was a brilliant sunny day full of joy, songs and traditional music outdoors, celebrating “Tsiknopempti”. This is the day where we feast on charcoal grilled meat ahead of the lent fasting period leading up to Easter! Delegates from the Parents’ association and from the municipality of VVV came and participated in our festivities!
On the third of March a group of teachers from Aruküla Kindergarten was participating on popular “President’s hike”, in which Kersti Kaljulaid, President of Estonia, also took part.
The “President’s hiking trail” is a 7 km-long trail that starts in Aegviidu. The trail was named after former presidents of Estonia Arnold Rüütel, who came here often and graduated Jäneda School. The hike has taken place 16 times and about 2000 hikers was participating this time. At the end of the trip, a warm soup and a band was waiting for everyone in Jäneda.
We arrived to Aegviidu by train with our president and we were lucky to get her on the photo with our team. Lady in the middle with blue jacket and black hat is the President of Estonia.
It was a happy day full of motivation for healthy life style.
A pneuvmonologist came to our school and taught our students how to protect themselves from the flu virus. She explained in simple words how human body functions and she also gave us few tips of healthy way of living!
It’s a fact that children love very much, animals. That’s why in the last few weeks, in our kindergarten we studied along kids more about animals. Thursday, February 21, two medium- sized groups went out to the Erasmus corner for making an evaluation of the thematic project “In the wonderful world of animals”. The kids expressed their joy by playing, singing and exposing their work.
“The Smurfs” group carried out a craft activity in which they realized bear masks. So they became little “Dancing bears” for one day.
“The Butterflies” group realized a didactic activity named “The animals’ farm” in which they made lots of animals from grandma’s yard with shelter, food for the animals and for their babies. All teaching materials have been made of materials gathered from nature and also recyclable materials.
Also the youngest came, the “Dwarves” group came out enthusiastically in the yard of the kindergarten. We sang, we played and we laughed in the mild sun rays of a beautiful day at the end of February. This week, the children from the small group learned new and interesting information about changes and processes that occur in nature at the end of winter. So, they enjoyed the opportunity of discovering new colours, smells and textures in the middle of nature. We took outside paper and cardboard which the little ones used in order to create colourful flowers and butterflies. The children were very interested in exploring and discovering details from nature and participated with all their hearts at our activities. Dreaming at the most vitalizing season of all (spring) we gathered afterwards in our classroom in order to share with the others our thoughts and impressions and to play a cheerful motion game.
With few weeks in advance on the spring we experienced very sunny and warm days .We couldn’t resist to spend more time outside and to continue to teach or just enjoy being outside !
For example glass of water outside, listening a story read by a teacher, show of their carnival mask for the youngest !
The „Pinocchio” group has carried out Wednesday , February 20, an ecological activity, in the framework of the Erasmus Project, with the theme “We take care of our yard” . Activity with our group preschoolers took place in the yard of the kindergarten, where children practiced the practical household skills specific to the spring season. Therefore, children have cleaned up the green space using specific tools ( broom, dustpan, rake, house bags ), have prepared little houses for the arrival of the birds and enjoyed the fresh air.
