Human Rights Day (10th December)

On 10th December 1948 the United Nations General Assembly adopted The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

On 10th December 1964 Martin Luther King Jr was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his nonviolent campaign against racism.

Since 1950 10th December has been universally celebrated as Human Rights Day to safeguard the protection of fundamental Human Rights.

The Importance of Water

The world is running out of fresh water. Over a billion people across the planet lack access to clean and potable water and millions die each year as a result. On the other hand, the privatization of fresh water supply has initiated a war between public health and private interests since major water companies take advantage of pollution and scarcity of water  and use the water supply to make ‘bottled’ water which only wealthy people can buy. This is the ‘World Water Crisis’, which is both an environmental and a political problem. The question is: “Should water be an industry or a common resource for all humans?”
