      Firstly, writing is the main focus of the lesson and the aim is ‘writing an inspirational story’.  There is emphasis on a cognitivist process orientation to writing. The topic of the writing task adheres to the expressivist perspective of writing as a means of self-expression. Also, writing is purposeful, relevant to the learners’ interests and it is addressed to a real-life audience. The materials used in the lesson are authentic. Finally, guidance is provided inasmuch that the learners are exposed to the means necessary to create a narrative of their own creation albeit through a process of critical thinking. Control is reduced to a minimum so as to encourage self-discovery and self-expression.
