Szolnoki Muszaki SZC Klapka Gyorgy Szakgimnáziuma és Szakközépiskolája

Our town is located in the middle of Hungary, about 100km from the capital, Budapest. Now six secondary schools belong to a school center. Our school has about 500 students at the secondary and adult levels of education, the school offers about 15 professions, e.g. waiters, cooks, cabinet makers, turners…etc. Our school includes vocational school, where they study for three years and ends in a professional examination and a four-year technical school with a matriculation examination.
Many of our students, mainly the Roma students are deprived from opportunities such as taking part in cultural life, intercultural exchanges and dialogue.

There are students who need special treatment because of their mental ability, others suffer from their social background (unemployed parents, poverty).
Our students learn English or German languages, however, they haven’t too much possibility to use them and reflect on ‘other people’, to get information about other nations’ customs and traditions. The school is a very dynamic one: students participate in sports, scientific and cultural events. The students participate in various activities such as English courses, astronomy, music, seminars in physics and philosophy, journalism and local heritage.
Further, the school has always carried out competence development of teachers through training courses.
Whatever the course chosen, the student will encounter our main aims which are: to provide a thorough cultural foundation, to encourage a sense of critical intelligence, to sustain personal formation and growth so as to bring out the best in each individual and to create a responsible future citizen.
In our country our students are successful, they have won more national prizes in competitions for students at vocational schools, but we would like our students will be given a chance to exchange their knowledge and improve their abilities.
The school prioritizes internationalization as an essential component in various structural projects, including improvement and autonomy projects, mainly aimed at vocational education. In this sense, vocational education has been one of the great strategic bets of the last years and the development of partnerships with companies of the region for the students to realize their internships in work context is one of the fundamental pillars of the whole strategy, in close collaboration with companies in the field of catering, hosting, ICT and new technologies. Thus, over the years, students have enjoyed diverse experiences in the work context, bringing their experience in a reciprocal relationship of learning. Our main mission is to nurture people and cultivate mindedness and a sense of global citizenship by offering a quality education which develops the unique intellectual, social, physical, emotional, moral and spiritual characteristics inherent in each person.
Already having experience in developing partnership projects teachers and students are constantly aware of the European dimension of education, its historic character, but also the need for education to continuously respond to demands, national and international reality. For these reasons, for teachers and pupils are the need to constantly participate in actions such international partnerships, exchanges of experience in various fields.
