Theatrical dramas about an inter-cultural Europe, ”The myth of diversity”

The benefits of theatrical education are:

Students understood that people’s differences are the result of their cultural and social choices that we make. Our behavior and attitude towards our fellow human beings positively affect society. We have to break down the racism and the prejudices – stereotypes as we have to respect each other as all we are different but equal, and that it is the diversity. The theater enables students to make connections and apply their learning in the real world. Theater helps learners see the interconnectedness of social, economic, and cultural issues. Taking a class outside or bringing nature indoors provides an excellent backdrop or context for interdisciplinary learning. It promotes tolerance of different points of view and different cultures and European values.

Our First drama play was the Joyful Meadow

Students read it and made the dialogues for their performance. We made paintings that we stuck on wood with posters. The paintings were the heroes of the fairy tale. The students held the placards and sat behind green sheets so that the posters with the heroes could be seen and the voices of the students could be heard. Both the fairy tale and the song were in English as we wanted to promote the English language.
