May’s newsletter
The first week after the Easter holidays our main goal was to support the students readjust in the school environment, share their holiday news, and strengthen their bond as a team. Group games such as Who is Missing, the compliment circle, the human Knot and Go to Sleep Little Bear allowed us to cooperate, reconnect as a class, and be playful with each other. A big part of this week was also sharing feelings and memories with friends. Two students of the Play and Learn family were moving away so we made sure that we devoted time to recall memorable moments and involved in activities that we all enjoyed throughout the year. Some were duck, duck-goose, dance moves, and water play.
In the second week of May, we explored the animals of the sea. The students explored various creatures that live under the sea, on the bay, and the sea rocks through games, pictures, and stories. Specifically, the students got more familiar with the life habits, characteristics, and anatomy of sharks, clown fishes, and sea shells. That week’s highlights were making sea dough, observing shells, painting ocean portraits, and having sensory games with water, bubbles, and sea animal figures.
During the last week of May, the students got involved in team-building activities. The main goal was to recall good practices of interacting nicely with each other and practice kindness once again. The children participated in planned activities where they shared emotions, listened to each other, cooperated with their classmates, and exchanged symbolic gifts. The trust walk, rainbow necklaces, the friendship wheel, and making friendship potions are what the kids enjoyed most.
