Κάθε χρόνο, από το 1961 και μετά στις 23 Μαρτίου, ο Παγκόσμιος Μετεωρολογικός Οργανισμός τιμώντας την επέτειο της ημέρας εφαρμογής της ιδρυτικής Συνθήκης του (την 23η Μαρτίου 1950), γιορτάζει την Παγκόσμια Ημέρα Μετεωρολογίας, διοργανώνοντας εορταστικές εκδηλώσεις σε όλο τον κόσμο.
Ηλιακή καταιγίδα μεσαίου μεγέθους θα πλήξει σήμερα και αύριο τη Γη
Ο Ήλιος συνεχίζει τη θορυβώδη συμπεριφορά του, με εκλάμψεις και εκτινάξεις μάζας, σχεδόν κάθε μέρα από τα μέσα Ιανουαρίου. Αυτό σημαίνει ότι συνέβη το αναπόφευκτο: ορισμένες από αυτές τις εκρήξεις έχουν εκτοξευθεί προς την κατεύθυνση της Γης, συνεπώς βρισκόμαστε μπροστά σε μερικές ηλιακές καταιγίδες .
