London is the capital of the United Kingdom.
The River Thames is the chief river of southern England. It is the longest river in England and the second longest river in the United Kingdom.

London is made up of two ancient cities, the City of London and the City of Westminster.
The City of London is the oldest part of London. It was originally a Roman settlement (Londinium), established around 50AD. The City of London is the business and financial center of the United Kingdom. It is known as ‘the City’ and the Square Mile (1 sq mi/2.59 sq km).
The City of Westminster in London is where Parliament and most of the government offices are located. Buckingham Palace, the official London residence of the Queen, is located in the City of Westminster.
London is made up of 32 boroughs together with the City of London. The ‘City of London’ and the 32 boroughs together are known as Greater London.
England’s climate is mild and damp.
